The Tiffin Glass Company of Tiffin,
Ohio, began business in 1887 and their original primary product was pressed
glass tumblers. Even in later years, Tiffin's reputation rested on stemware and
cut crystal patterns and, unlike their rivals in Cambridge, they were not
widely known for figural objects. Starting in the 1940s, they specialized
in hand crafting artistic free form pieces in the Swedish tradition, but they
did make some nude stems and in the 1920s three figural lamps -- one shaped like
an elk with a clock between its antlers, another shaped like Santa Claus (circa 1926) going
down the chimney.
