After quitting WeightWatchers after two years, thinking I could "do it on my own," I, once again, in my lifetime experience with "diets," started looking for one I could live with and still have my wine! I looked at all the new ones out there and picked this one because it offered a healthy approach and included my beloved drink. It is a healthy way eat and drink, but for me, too gourmet and somewhat time consuming for me and my family. Give me Rachel Ray and 30 Minute Meals! So, after all was said and done, I went back to Weight Watchers and if I watch it, I can still have my wine, if not every day, at least every other. When you watch the new commercials, with all the difficulties you encounter with diets, they're right. DIETS DON'T WORK! WEIGHTWATCHERS DOES! It's a life plan anyone can do! Sorry to all who love the Sonoma Diet, but I was asked to write my opinion, and there it is!Read full review

Hooray for this book.. this author.. this wonderful way to love food.. for all the right reasons! See you on the thinner side of life!
It's time to diet and make a change in my eating habits! I have several friends who are on the Sonoma diet, a couple who have both lost LOTS of weight and they look Wonderful and younger and seem full of energy. They love the food and even seem to like preparing it and are just enjoying it all around. I have previously tried , with success, the South Beach diet, but have gained back the weight. This diet allows carbs right from the start and it is really about changing your lifestyle. I have made changes, but this is the next step. I enjoyed reading the book and so far the receipes are great!
I decided to buy this book because I wanted to lose my pregnancy weight, but I was still breastfeeding. I thought that a diet that emphasized portion control and healthy living would be ideal. The first day that I started on Zone 1 was exciting. But, the next morning, I felt very weak and shaky - clearly low blood sugar. After realizing that I was in danger of dropping my infant daughter, I broke the diet and had some sugar and simple carbs. I am looking forward to trying this diet again when I am done breastfeeding and my body is better able to handle it. I thought about buying more food that fit the diet plan and trying again with larger portions, but it's rather expensive to eat fresh and lean! Based on what I read, I would still recommend this book to anyone (except breastfeeding mothers!). It's all about being healthy for life, and that's what I want to be.Read full review
I have been on diets over the years - the last one being the Atkins Diet, which I successfully lost 20 pounds on, but then gained it all back when I went off it. I was going to try the South Beach diet next when I came across The Sonoma Diet. I agree that it should not be called a diet. The food is normal - the idea is to cook fresh instead of buying fast-food and frozen food. I bought the cookbook and have been VERY pleased with EVERY recipe I've tried! Flavorful and healthy!!! I recommend this highly!!!!
