TARZAN BURNE HOGARTH 1950 ORIGINAL SUNDAY COMIC PROOF PAGE PRODUCTION ART

This is an incredibly rare original printed proof for the legendary Sunday Newspaper comic strip Tarzan by Edgar Rice Burroughs. This is a proof for Page #1001 from the all-time classic series that featured the adventures of the Lord of the Jungle. It was published on May 14, 1950 (5/14/50). This is a black and white proof of the complete strip page, featuring beautiful art by Burne Hogarth. The size of the proof lets you see the incredible Hogarth artwork in nice large detail. It is likely that the only other way you would be able to see the art of a Tarzan page at this size would be if you owned the actual original artwork (which given the cost of those is very difficult). The proof is large and on high quality smooth coated stock, and measures approximately 14 1/4" by 19". It is in good overall condition, particularly considering its age (more than 60 years old!), with general wear to be expected. There are fold lines, which is common to see on older proofs, and there is some slight edgewear tear separation along the lines at the top, bottom, and side edges. You can also see there is a small piece missing from the top right corner (this is in the blank border area, and does not affect the art area). Please note that this is NOT a mass-produced print, lithograph, or poster reproduction. It is an original proof that was created in 1950 during the production process for the comic strip, and used internally by the publisher in producing the strip for publication. This is a very cool and rare comic collectible that you will hardly ever get a chance to see. Considering the price of original art for Tarzan Sundays, this is a much more reasonable way to own a piece of production art from one of the greatest strips in American history. This is a fantastic piece that would look great framed, and would be a key piece in the collection of any Tarzan fan.
