What is BioBeam Acne?      

The BioBeam Acne is a red light medical personal device for the treatment of Acne that utilizes 630 nm red light. The BioBeam Acne heals naturally, and is therefore completely safe, painless and absolutely harmless to the skin and the user’s health and as such holds all of the relevant certificates in this regard.  The BioBeam Acne is a Class IIA photo-therapeutic medical device and complies with Annex VI of the Medical Device Directive 93/42/EEC and is CE certified (CE 0473). It has been found to be a fast and effective treatment for acne.

Acne Treatment  

Acne is a disorder of the skin`s sebaceous glands that results in clogged pores and lesions, commonly called pimples or zits. Acne lesions usually occur on the face, neck, back, chest, and shoulders.

Acne occurs when sebum is not able to pass through the hair follicle. Cells from the lining of the follicle are shed too fast and clump together, plugging up the follicle`s opening so sebum cannot get through. The mixture of sebum and cells causes bacteria to grow in the plugged follicles. These bacteria produce chemicals and enzymes that can cause inflammation. When a plugged follicle (called comedones) can no longer hold its contents, it bursts and spills sebum (oil), skin cells, and bacteria onto nearby skin. Such comedone called a blackhead because it looks black due to melanin, a skin`s pigment. Blackheads can last for a long time because the contents very slowly drain to the surface.


People of all ages get acne, but it is most common in adolescents, nearly 85% of adolescents and young adults between the ages of 12 and 24 develop acne. People of all races can have acne, but it is more common among Caucasians. Most people no longer have acne by the time they reach their 30s; however, some people continue to have acne in their 40s and 50s.

The exact cause of acne is unknown, but doctors believe it results from several factors while the main factor is high hormone levels. Male sex hormones called androgens increase in both boys and girls during puberty. More androgens lead to enlarged sebaceous glands, which mean more sebum is made.

Another factor related to acne is heredity, or genetics. The tendency to develop acne can be inherited from parents. For example, studies show that many school-age boys with acne have a family history of it. 

Several factors can make acne worse. Hormone levels in girls and women may cause worse acne 2-7 days before their menstrual period starts. Hormonal changes related to pregnancy can cause acne to get worse. When women start or stop taking birth control pills, hormonal changes can also cause acne to flare up. Stress, especially severe or prolonged emotional tension, may worsen acne.  Environmental irritants, such as pollution and high humidity, can make acne worse.

Acne cannot be cured but can be treated and with a good treatment solution you can prevent, control and maintain your treated conditions.

How does it Work?     

BioBeam Acne is based on the phototherapy principle of treatment with light energy, and uses a visible light source red light with a frequency of 630nm at a narrow band wavelength. This is the optimal wavelength to achieve the desired healing effect. The monochromatic light waves in the red spectrum 630 nanometers corresponds to the cellular frequency of the connective tissue, resulting in photo-stimulation of the damaged or affected cell tissue. As a result, the flow of blood in the area of the cell is increased, the production of proteins and calcium in the cell is stimulated, the number of lymphocytes is increased, and the phlogogens are controlled more rapidly. 

How should I use the BioBeam Acne?      

Use the BioBeam Acne treatment on a regular basis (6-7 minute treatment sessions on each infected area) with 1-2 times daily use once symptoms are relieved. Reduce the number of treatment sessions and use as needed.

Clinical Studies     

 

There are several clinical studies of the BioBeam Acne treatment which were done in Israel and other countries. The results of these trials were presented at an International Congress which took place in Canada (1992) and were enthusiastically received in medical circles.

The following conclusions came out of the above studies:
1. The device was found to be an effective treatment for acne in the inflammatory stage.
2. One can see positive results within 3-6 weeks of starting treatment.
Positive results depend on closely following the usage instructions of the manufacturer. If you miss one treatment, do not stop! Continue at the first possible moment.
3. After a treatment period of 6 weeks:
20% of the patients were completely healed.
50% of the patients showed major improvement.
20% of the patients showed minor improvement
