Antique Brass "Hummingbird" Door Knobs c1877 by Russell & Erwin
We are delighted to offer this stunning pair of 19th century brass and bronze doorknobs. By Russell & Erwin, the "Hummingbird" pattern is one of the most highly sought after and collectible doorknobs ever produced. With incomparable, beautiful composition, the designs are bronze and features a finely detailed full-feathered hummingbird sipping the nectar of the encircling trumpet vines. The deep banded edge is decorated with mythical creatures, griffins and gargoyle faces.
The brass is fairly bright and these doorknobs are in very good condition with minor dings along the bands and small bits of green paint. Fantastic example of 19th century art and craftsmanship.
Doorknobs are 2 1/4" diameter. Rod and screws included.
We believe in the wonderful artistry and fine quality hardware produced by 19th century craftsmen. Unless stated otherwise, every item on these pages was designed and made right here in America.
