For your consideration today:
One of the largest chainsaws ever manufactured. 123cc of power, the Stihl 084 is very nearly the biggest and baddest saw you're ever going to get your hands on.
While all saws can be dangerous, this one is particularly big and fearsome. This saw is not for the feint of heart, so please ensure you know HOW TO USE A CHAINSAW prior to bidding on this bad boy. When I sit it next to my old reliable 036 (62cc) it is literally TWICE as big!! If you are looking for a big saw, this is one of the best choices you could possibly make. It will handle just about anything you can throw at it (check out videos of it pulling a 72" bar on youtube!!) - AND - it is actually pretty light by big-saw weights. It is right around 20lbs and it runs at a surprisingly 12,000 rpm for such a large saw.

What I do know:
The saw starts and runs. It has compression of 120 psi (see pic) and there is evidence of some minor marks on the piston (not sure how well you can see in pics). It *probably* would be ok to run 'as is' but almost certainly would benefit from a good tune up. How far into it you would need to go to get it running perfectly, I am not sure. As with any saw, you should do a proper carb tune as my elevation, gas/mix type etc is almost certainly different than yours. I had no intentions of keeping this saw - its just too big for the softwoods I cut around here - so I didnt dig deep into it, but I suspect a little pre-maintenance would help it a lot in the long-run.
I bought this saw from a guy who was using it to buck wood. As such he didnt have spikes on it - if you were going to be using it for felling, you'd probably want to get a pair (can be found on ebay for $30 or so). There are the 'usual' signs of wear (worn paint, a few cracks in the plastic top cover) but otherwise its actually in really nice shape.
Rear handle is completely solid (no cracks) and the stop/on/off switch is in perfect working order. Carb, carb cover, air filter etc all look great. Chain brake works. Everything (at least without ripping it apart) seems to be there & in working order, but its still being sold as-is because I have not done a complete tear down and cannot warranty it as such. The only part that seems to be missing is the rubber carb adjustment cover. I have seen them on ebay for about $5-10 or you could work without it. Looks like someone stuck a 'new' decal on the flywheel side. It looks good & durable/well made, but just thought Id mention that I dont think its original
What I dont know:
Beyond starting it, I have not used this saw. I have simply put fresh mix in it, started it & done a quick once over inspection. I dont know much beyond that as it was never my "working saw."
The "other stuff":
This auction is for the POWERHEAD ONLY. I do not have a bar and chain to include & if i did, adding more length to the already extremely large/heavy package would send shipping from Canada through the roof. I have tried to be as accurate in describing it as possible, as well as including a ton of photos. As such, the saw is being sold as-is and no returns will be accepted.
I have a 100% feedback & I aim to please, so if you have ANY questions, please ask them prior to bidding. I will ship outside of north america, but please contact me for a quote first. At this time, I accept paypal only. Payment is due within 4 days of auction close. All fluids will be drained prior to shipping. Thank you for looking!
