Staghorn Fern, Platycerium bifurcatum
Tissue Cultured Liner
One of the easiest ferns to grow, Platycerium will give you years of enjoyment.
The staghorn fern's foliage consists of several fronds which resemble stag antlers. In nature it grows on a tree, sending its roots into the bark. Epiphytic ferns that naturally grow on bark or tree branches.
They have 2 different types of fronds. One that grows outward from the base giving it its' name (Staghorn) and the other that cups the area where it's rooted which eventually forms it a nest to catch nutrients.
Staghorn ferns are very interesting plants and sure to be a topic of conversation. Best of all, they are very easy to grow, require almost no work, no soil and not much watering. They enjoy a bright sunny area (if outside, keep out of direct sunlight).
This is a great plant to over winter indoors and return to the garden the following year.
These are tissue cultured liners sold in 2" pots. They are well rooted and ready to be transplanted. The plants measure about 4-6" across.
