I bought the Squier Mini Strat for a friend who is teaching his young daughter to play guitar. After replacing the strings with a good set of .009-.042's and adjusting the action and intonation, I played it myself for a couple of hours! This instrument is a 3/4 size guitar, just the thing for smaller hands, the perfect size for 6-to 12 year old aspiring rockers. It has pretty good tone as well from its 3 single-coil pickups and 5-way pickup selector; while not exactly "gigworthy", it doesn't sound at all bad. Since Squier is owned by Fender Co., the quality has to be pretty good. These are available in two colors-Torino red with white pick guard or black with white pick guard. A Squier gigbag made for this guitar is also available, which I also purchased. The Mini would also serve quite well as a travel guitar, or just to have around for practice or song writing. The main "negative" characteristic about the instrument has to be the tuners; it is a little difficult to keep in tune. A good set of sealed tuners can be bought for around $30 and would be a worthwhile investment. Other than that, I would recommend the Squier Mini to anyone as a first guitar for the kid, or as a beater to take to the motel room or touring bus!Read full review
This 3/4 size has been a great little model for some our young customers. It's just like what it looks like. plays nice! Nice tone! no buzz, stays in tune pretty well. Great starter guitar for a great price!

I enjoyed playing it because of the way i could bend notes by applying pressure to guitar body. Put some worth while guts and i'll buy again.
