Speakercraft AIM7 MT-ONE Audiophile In-Wall Speaker Pr-MINT w/Super Low Reserve

Let’s start at the Beginning:

Speakercraft is a very high-end brand of in-wall speakers, and they are sold by the very best dealers in the US.

Their products are made with high quality parts and are extremely good value.

They have several series of speakers, but the AIM line is quite special.

Behind the paintable, mesh grill lies a speaker of very high quality with a trick up its sleeve.

You can aim the speaker! It pivots right-to-left.

If you were to place your in-wall speakers ideally, you would usually want to measure out your wall, and then divide it up into three equal parts, with two dividing lines. The in-wall speakers should usually go JUST outside those two lines.

In reality, though, we usually put speakers further apart, and often near the far corners.

This creates FOUR problems…

---The speakers may now be so far apart that you no “center image”, meaning that there is a right and a left sound, not a homogeneous sound spread across the wall.

---If the speakers are in a corner, you might get too much bass from them due to reinforcement. Bass that hits the side walls gets reflected back into the room and, if bad enough, becomes “boomy”.

---If the speaker or speakers are near a window on the side walls, the glass will reflect the highs and the speaker can sound very “bright” and harsh.

---If the side walls have drapes on them, then it absorbs the highs.

In many cases, you run into a combination of these problems, and they are different for the left and right speaker, creating an imbalance, so you might hear too much bass from one speaker and too much treble from the other.

This speaker helps solve all these issues.

The speaker pivots behind the grill somewhat from side-to-side, allowing you to bring the focus point inward, and prevent excess reflections off the side walls.

Additionally, there are switches on the front of the speaker, behind the grill, to boost or cut the highs and lows to compensate for the above-talked-about problems.

All this would mean little if the speakers did not sound good, though!

This is the model MT-ONE, the most affordable speaker in the series and a superior value at its normal retail price of  $325.00 for the pair. 

Speakercraft really through ALL their technology into these.

The speaker connectors are large and solid, and make a great connection with your wires. They are gold plated. They insure your speakers receive all the power you amp sends to them.

The woofer has superior bass for a speaker of this size and price. I have heard these in many rooms and their rich, full bass always amazes me.

The tweeter is a soft fabric dome. This is designed to sound VERY smooth...not harsh and bright like most in-wall speakers. 

The light weight of the speaker cones/domes makes them very sensitive, meaning the speakers can run off of as little as 5 Watts of power. The sensitivity is 92dB, which is quite high. They can play loud with even fairly low power amplifiers and receivers.

They are also 8 Ohms, so any good amp can drive them easily. Many in-wall speakers are 4-Ohms, which many amplifier’s cannot drive well (look at the back of your receiver and you will see).

These speakers have a frequency response of 40-20,000Hz +/-3dB, which is astoundingly good.

They can be used with amplifiers of up to 100 Watts per channel.

They were in our warehouse, factory sealed.

I did open the box to take a few photos, but the speakers remain sealed in plastic.

They have built-in mounting hardware…nothing else is needed.

Their overall size is 14 ½ x 9 7/8 inches.

You will want to make your cutout about 12 ¾ x 8 1/8 inches. A template is included to make this easy.

Since these have been in the warehouse for a wile, we want to move them out with a low Reserve to insure a quick sale.

We are setting the RESERVE at only $88.00 for the pair. 

That makes them a SUPER-BARGAIN at even WELL over the reserve.

I am not sure if Speakercraft speakers sold online qualify for the factory warranty, but we guarantee they will not be DOA.
