This machine is a bit slow and clanky, but it does what I wanted: it provides random play of individual tracks on up to 300 discs. Filled with my jazz collection or my classical music collection, it goes on and on. It works much better than Sony's 400 disc machines of the same era. It also is more satisfying than earlier editions which do not have an optical digital connection between CD player and receiver. With this thing going, I can focus on my reading or writing or room clean up while absorbing music I like--and only music I like. I am very sorry that Sony (and Pioneer) quit making multi-disc players instead of perfecting them.

I've had two of these and both of them broke on me. The first one started skipping disks after a couple of weeks so I bought another one. That one worked for a couple weeks and then had the same problem. I have one of them in for repair so hopefully they can fix it. I think it's the laser reader that needs to be cleaned. Both of these units I bought used, so its possible that I just had bad luck but I can't say I'd buy another one.

This CD player does it all. It plays the CD then when it is done if you want it to it will move on to the next CD. Or you can have it shuffle the CDs. I love it so much. Sound is great to. I also like the fact that you can label the CDs for easy finding the one you want. Some CDs come with the information already on them and this CD player will pick that up. So everything is labeled and organized and easy to find. No more handling of CDs unless I want to move them around or remove them. Remote has every function on it that you need to move from track to track or CD to CD. You even use it to help you organize your collection. This is the best thing to come along for CD listeners..... I JUST LOVE IT!!!!!!!

Regarding Sony MegaStorage CDP-CX355 CD Changer. A fine unit. CDs must be scratch-free or they will not play! High-end features are primarily designed to work with other Sony high end digital products.Keyboard connector is a great feature. I payed US$99 for a (new) surplus unit built in 2002. Owners handbook and remote w/ batteries were provided. BEWARE!!!! The Sony MegaStorage CDP-CX355 CD Changer was not designed and does not ship w/ exterior mounted foot-pads. So be advised, it will certainly scratch your furniture, etc.
It is big but it needs to be to hold this many CD's. It's great to be able to turn the knob or push a few buttons on the remote to be able play any one of 300 Cd's. It could use more characters on the display but it is not a deal breaker. The analog output sounds very good but it is nice that it also has a digital optical output. It will play burned CD's but it will not play mp3/wma encoded discs. My computer is connected to my system to play those. The laser pickups seem to fail but they are cheap and not too hard to change. Changed it with about 230 CD's still in the changer. This one is a keeper. Overall a very nice CD changer that has way too many features to list here. The wife likes it too. Makes it easy to find and play all those CD's that did not get much play before. Put all those empty CD cases in a box and stash them out in the garage. Big but still takes up less space than all those jewel cases. Really helped to print out a list that has the location of each CD. Read full review
