The HDW-F900 camcorder records images in accordance with the CIF (Common Image Format) standard, which specifies a sampling structure of 1920 x 1080 active pixels (horizontal x vertical). Plus, as well as recording at 24P, the HDW-F900 camcorder is switchable to record at 25P, 29.97P progressive scan, and also at 50 or 59.94 Hz interlaced scan. The camcorder also provides a comprehensive range of features for creative shooting such as enhanced gamma features and colorimetric controls. When the Sony F 900 first became available, Clairmont's engineers made a number of important modifications to the camera to better suit it for use in the HD television and commercial world. This included re-configuring the lens mounting system to incorporate a reinforced front plate, hardened stainless steel lens mount and improved optical block alignment—allowing lens changes without needing to back-focus and improved stability under a wide range of temperatures. Clairmont has also enhanced the viewing system, controls, and added numerous power outlets. It has proven to be an outstanding workhorse.
