The Yamaha YAS-62 Alto Saxophone is just what I expected it to be! It has been several years since I played a saxophone so I am a bit "rusty." Overall, this sax seems to be in excellent condition. I am having problems hitting the high notes above high D; but at this point I am assuming that the problem is ME not the horn!
I love the Yamaha YAS-62 alto saxophone. It is a beautiful professional instrument. I find it is easier to play than many other alto saxophones. The keys feel nice. The action is smooth. My horn came with the G1 neck which offers a big yet controlled sound. It combines the quality of the M1 neck which is more controlled and not as loud with the F1 neck which is a louder and more open sound. For this reason I find this horn is excellent for both classical, jazz and pop music. As far as looks are concerned it is absolutely gorgeous.
Bought a YAS-62S after having borrowed one from a friend for the summer and falling in love with it. It produces a simply gorgeous sound, and is easy to play, even for a beginner like myself. The silver is gorgeous to look at, to boot. For the quality, it's also fairly cheap as far as saxes go, which was nice. Love this item, would recommend to anyone.
The yas-62 is a fantastic saxophone for the value. Don't pay more than 1,700 dollars. Even though it is wort more actually. It is a proffesional model, but you do not have to be a a pro to play it. It does not loost alot of vallue over time. My advise is to buy tge id´kdest possible. I board one from 1980 and it is fatanstic. Patina only makes it nicer.
