I love this book and had fun helping my kids make the food. Each child (4 total) was assigned a day to cook and I would help them. The food tasted great and the kids ate things they wouldn't have ate otherwise (Onions, sweet pickle relish). It is time consuming, but well worth it. This book was easy to read with clear instructions. Some of the other books have to much information bundled together and that can be confusing for kids, and even adults sometimes :) I would highly recommend it!
Easy nutritious recipes that your teens will actually eat. There are lots of varied recipes that call for a minimum of sugar and salt. My daughter loves the blueberry muffins and the smoothie and I love getting fresh fruit and YOGURT into her. Trying new recipes is not easy but so far I am 3 for 3. This book is great for the beginning cook because it explains all of the cooking terms and the correct way to measure your ingredients. There is also a recipe for "Baby Bam" seasoning.
I gave this as a Christmas gift to a young boy interested in learning to cook and was an instant hit. It has recipes that kids will eat while teaching them techniques & safety which will be useful for the rest of their lives. Great value!

As far as kids cookbooks go - I'd rate this as one of the better ones out there. The recipes are simple and the food actually tastes good. That's more than I can say for most of the kids cookbooks I have bought over the years. A lot of people complain that it would have been nice to have actual pictures of the food rather than all the real pictures of Emeril. Real pictures of the food would have been nice - but I'm willing to overlook that because of the quality of the recipes and the cookbook in general.
Emeril's, There's a Chef in My Soup, is a cookbook for children, and for the "child" in all of us. It excites and inspires! The recipes are "Kid-Friendly" and "Parent-Friendly", as are the step-by-step directions and warm hearted commentaries. This cookbook that WILL NOT collect dust on your shelf! It is one you will use over and over again to the delight of friends and family. The kind of cookbook that will collect splatters of various ingredients on it's pages and become "dog-eared" from continual usage! A KEEPER! My daughter, about to turn age 8 in a few days, wants to become a Chef, or a "cooker" in her words. I purhased this book for her upcoming birthday to inspire her to fullfill her dream of becoming a Chef. It is a delightful compilation of recipes for children. Colorful and Fun illustrations accompany each recipe. A BIG Thank you to Emeril! What a gift to our children!Read full review
