Team 7-Eleven Cycling Jersey by Descente to Benefit Davis Phinney Foundation

Signed by Davis Phinney

The jersey is a size small

Celebrate America's #1 cycling team

The 7-Eleven pro cycling team was founded in 1981 and featured Eric Heiden, winner of five gold medals in the 1980 Winter Olympics, Davis Phinney, Andy Hampsten, Ron Kiefel, and many other top American professionals. The team's accomplishments are legendary and countless, including Hampsten's epic triumph in the 1988 Giro d'Italia (including his amazing ride through the snow and ice over the Passo Gavia), stage wins in the Tour de France (Phinney became the first American to win a stage), world championship medals, and several US Pro Championship titles.

This pro legacy jersey is a recreation of the original jersey worn by the professional cyclists on the 7-Eleven team. All the original sponsors are on the jersey, including Eddy Merckx bicycles, Wolber tires, and Hoonved washing supplies.

This jersey features:

  • Tempo fabric has a micro-waffle texture that offers superior breathability and moisture management
  • Hidden 14 inch zipper for temperature regulation
  • Soft tension elastic at waist and pockets
  • Contoured set-in sleeve construction and tapered collar for superior fit
  • Three rear pockets
  • Sublimated graphics won't fade or bleed

    Press Release

"BicyclingHub to Auction Off Signed 7-Eleven Jersey to Benefit Davis Phinney Foundation"

    By Sarah Esterman

    May 29, 2013

On May 30, 2013, BicyclingHub, an online bicycling apparel and accessories retailer, will begin a 10-day eBay auction of a rare 7-Eleven Jersey signed by Davis Phinney and donate 100 percent of the proceeds to the Davis Phinney Foundation.

The Davis Phinney Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity dedicated to helping people with Parkinson’s live well with the disease. It was founded in 2004 by Olympic-medal winner and cycling legend Davis Phinney, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2000 at the age of 40. Today, Phinney provides both inspiration for the cycling community, as well as the estimated 1.5 million Americans and 10 million people worldwide living with the disease.

The Davis Phinney Foundation is unique in the Parkinson’s community, spreading the message that it is possible to live well today with Parkinson’s disease. The Davis Phinney Foundation has invested more than $3.8 million in initiatives to support, inform and inspire people living with Parkinson’s to live well today. Over $1.2 million in research funding has been invested in innovative, early-phase studies that focus on exercise, speech, movement and other factors that affect quality of life. Tens of thousands of people living with this disease have been directly touched by one of the Foundation’s programs.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to create more awareness for our Foundation and Parkinson’s disease. BicyclingHub has come up with a great idea to help spread awareness and fundraise in support of the Foundation’s mission,” said Davis Phinney Foundation Victory Crew Program Manager Lauren Hunt. “We’re excited about reaching new audiences through BicyclingHub.com auctioning a Team 7-Eleven jersey signed by Davis Phinney.”

Since its inception in 2002, BicyclingHub has made an effort to give back by contributing to nonprofits. In the last five years alone, teams sponsored by BicyclingHub have raised over $10,000 for the American Diabetes Association.

“Davis Phinney has long been a hero of mine,” said Doug Duguay, owner and founder of BicyclingHub. “We are very honored and excited to have the opportunity to work with his Foundation and help further its mission.”
