Surprising sound out of a relatively inexpensive head, which is exchangeable with a seemingly inexhaustible list of options. The transmitter has great range and batteries will last through most gig lengths. The compact size of the receiver allows for its placement at many small-space locations. Since the retirement of the PGX series of mics, this should be the first choice of a tough but true-sound reproductive mic. The purist at heart may want to consider buying a transmitter with the SM58 head instead of the PG58, and those in a tight budget need to determine the cost of the additional equipment needed to complete a wireless system such as the PGXD4 receiver, the power supply of the receiver, the tripod clip, and cabling and before they purchase this transmitter.

We use these mics in our church sanctuary during worship services. Remarkibly easy to set up. Automatically found open unused frequencies as we have three other Shure-wireless mics. Been using these mics for a month now and have yet to replace batteries.

Great Shure sound quality at an affordable price. This microphone meets or exceeds my expectations and I've been a professional entertainer for 40 years. Absolutely amazing and ready to use right out of the box!

My last PG58 was great, but it started acting up (the On/Off switch would never quite turn the mic off) so I needed a replacement. I've really enjoyed the PG58 for vocals, so I wanted to stick with it. The On/Off switch is really great for recording or turning off during practice when we don't need back-up vocals. I really like the quality of sound this gives out on recordings and live. Overall a solid mic. I'd recommend trying to look for a used one first though; the $60 price tag is a little steep especially if you're just getting started. Two of them that I've purchased have come looking brand-spankin' new, and have been great
I have owned many mics with near SM58 quality, including the PG58, the GLS ES58. it comes down to DB efficiency, clarity or mudiness, and mostly warmth in tonal reproduction of your voice. the SM58 remains nearly unbeatable in terms of loudness, non-mudiness, and warmth for home use. However, for a price tag less than $65 the SM58S (non-new) is worth your investment, and spending over $44 for the SM58 (w/o switch, non-new) would be already stretching the desirabilty limit of this product. You can only truly appreciate it when you compare it with another product (the noisier wireless SM58 included).
