I'm buying this for a friend-- already have my own dog-eared copy. If you know the traditions of golf-- and respect them, then this book is about the anti-traditions of golf. Its the melting-pot of golf, exploring the fun and the possibilities of the game... maybe through the eyes of characters who escaped from Danvers hospital, up the road a bit. Great characters, twisted plot... or maybe twisted characters, great plot. The story upsets the apple-cart of the game and wades through the apple-sauce of what it might be. Rick Reilly is the new Dan Jenkins; and if you don't laugh as you read this book, you're probably dead.
Rick Reilly is one of the best sports writers of all time and when set in a fictional setting he is even more explosive. this book in my opinion is the pinnacle of his writtings but you definately have to read "Missing Links" before reading this sequel to it. Loved this book would recommend it to any golfer novice or pro!!!
This is an excellent book for golfers and non-golfers alike. If you like comedy, placing bets, or just a good story, you'll love this book.
Totally Reilly. The characters at Ponky are in a real bind this time, actually several, and I learned how to golf while serving time in a federal prison. Good to know!
Got this book for Christmas. It's the first Rick Reilly book I've read, but now I'm a fan. I'll be reading some more of his work soon.
