yes it is good...in the right guitar of course.
Put mine in a Made in China Epiphone Les Paul Standard, which is all Mahogany. The problem I had prior to installing this pickup was that the guitar was sounding very dark and muddy. I tried a JB, Custom, and the Probuckers that the guitar came with; all of which sounded good, but one dimensional. Finally ended up with the custom 5 which gave me an all around sound that can go from country to metal based on my gain settings. IMO this pickup is very versatile in the right guitar.Put mine in a Made in China Epiphone Les Paul Standard, which is all Mahogany. Best bridge pickup for a mahogany guitar!
This is the best bridge pickup I've ever owned so far! And I owned a lot of them: '59, JB, Invader, Custom Custom, Dimebucker, Super Distortion, Evolution, X2N, EMG 81, EMG 85 and the list goes on and on with some less known models... But this is it, best sound I ever had, achieved on an all mahogany maple capped set-neck superstrat! Just imagine a classic PAF style pickup with a lil scooped mids and perfect articulation... (something like a Gibson 490T or Burstbacker) This has all that + just the right amount of output to drive your amp and get all the freaky screaming harmonics imaginable! Combine it with a '59 model in the neck on a mahogany body (any LP/SG style guitar) add a coil split and you will get the perfect rock machine! More over, it works with down-tuned riffs exceptionally ... This is the best bridge pickup I've ever owned so far! And I owned a lot of them: '59, JB, Invader, Custom Custom, Dimebucker, Super Distortion, Evolution, X2N, EMG 81, EMG 85 and the list goes on and on with some less known models...
