Scratch 1018 forged irons.
Scratch EZ-1 Driver/Slider Irons, 4 – PW
The Scratch EZ-1 irons are forged from the same soft 1018 carbon steel as our wedges. The EZ-1 is a larger cavity back that is designed for maximum playability and forgiveness while still retaining traditional looks and the sweet soft feel of a true forged iron. The weight is moved very low in the head and also away from the face. This increases the MOI to a level not seen before in a traditional forged iron. The EZ-1 is the perfect iron for any handicap player that is looking for maximum forgiveness and ease of use but demands traditional looks and true forged feel.
The Driver/Slider iron grind is designed for the player with a moderate angle of attack who takes a thin to medium size divot. This player generally has an aggressive move through the ball and will have both thin and fat mishits. The grind features moderate bounce and camber with an aggressively killed leading edge. The moderate camber and bounce allows the player to hit down on the ball without the club digging into the ground. The aggressively killed leading edge allows the player to get down into the ball without the sole skipping off the ground, causing inconsistent contact.
Playing the correct grind for your swing promotes better more consistent contact as the club works with your swing instead of against it. The Driver/Slider grind is also available in Scratch Wedges. Visit the FWIGS eBay Store Forged Wedges and Irons Golf Store to see all of the Scratch grinds in wedges and irons.
Scratch irons feature the True Temper Dynamic Gold as the standard shaft. A variety of additional shaft options and flexes are also available, please inquire for exact pricing, since there is an upcharce for some of the shaft options.
The price of the set of Scratch EZ-1 Irons (4 – PW) is $1,039.00. Other iron sets are available (e.g. 3 - PW, 5 - pw); please inquire for exact pricing. PayPal is the preferred method of payment. Expedited shipping options are available. Your satisfaction is guaranteed with every purchase. If you are not fully satisfied, please contact us and we will do our best to make it right!
Specs for the EZ-1 Irons
Scratch EZ-1 Irons are forged from the same soft 1018 carbon steel as the Scratch wedges. The EZ-1 irons are designed for absolute maximum forgiveness in a one piece forged head. The center of gravity is very low and far back towards the trailing edge. The blade is longer from heel to toe and the weight is pushed far out towards the edges of the club. This makes the EZ-1 irons as forgiving as any of the larger oversized irons on the market today. Despite their extreme forgiveness and playability the EZ-1 irons retain a traditional look at address with a thin topline and classic shape.
Scratch EZ-1 irons are forged from 1018 carbon steel, the softest steel used by anyone making golf clubs today. The raw heads are then ground and finished completely by hand. The end result is the finest hand made forged traditional cavity back irons in golf. The headshape of the EZ-1 irons was inspired by Scratch's work with Tour Pros. Specific attention was paid to the transition from the middle irons to the short irons to assure perfect flow throughout the set from the 3 iron down to the PW.
The EZ-1 irons feature our "Condition of Competition" legal V grooves. These grooves are legal for play in any tournament in the world so you never have to worry about taking your favorite set of Scratch irons out of the bag because the groove rule has changed. These grooves are designed to have the maximum amount of groove surface while still adhering to the new USGA rules. This reduces flier lies and provides more consistent spin and performance.
EZ-1 irons feature Scratch’s Brushed Satin finish. This finish provides the durability of chrome with a duller surface to help eliminate glare. The minimal stampings of the EZ-1 irons provide a very clean look.
