OK, here's a sell for you parents. I was a good to very good student, but I was a god on standarized tests. National Merit Scholar, sky high SAT, courted by schools from Harvard to Washington. My prep courses? Reading voraciously, paying attention in a good school and remembering my Schoolhouse Rock. Years before we learned math's distributive law in class, I absorbed it from Figure Eight and the Two Noah's Ark takeoff. When asked the role of a word in a sentence, especially adverbs, I'd remember the Schoolhouse Rock tunes and make the correct decision. Even now, when I'm watching Jeopardy with the wife (a double Ivy Leaguer who came with many more brain cells than I did) I'll nail clues she and the contestants miss because of what I learned through Schoolhouse Rock. Watching the cartoons now -- I had it even before we had a daughter -- some of the music holds up quite well. The lyrics almost qualify as genius for what they pack into three minutes. You can hear why some of the voice talent, Jack Sheldon and Blossom Dearie, in particular, worked with some of the top jazz musicians of the 1960s and were considered such in their own right. As an educational tool, it was excellent on multiplication and grammar. It did provide only broad strokes on American history and science. But I'll bet my next three paychecks that those of us who still truly remember the America Rock entries could dust the average fellow American in a history shootout. And whatever shortcomings Science Rock had, well, if they aren't made up for by "Electricity, eee-lec-tri-city" or "Energy...I think I'm running out of...energy," then you're not included when I buy the next round. Good stuff for your 4-12-year-old.Read full review

Thank you! Excellent product as advertised. Brought back a lot of my childhood. I found it interesting that the coupon in the back was dated in the 1990's! Too bad I couldn't get the rebate (HA HA).
We feel lucky to have found this box set of School House Rock cds! My kids, 8 & 7, love them and listen to them as often as they can.
