Hi, there, "abroaders". The real case was that my fellow wanna one to buy it, he had asked me to help him with ebay and to select the concrete model. Some phone from a range of either android, either winphone platform and the budget about 300$ max. One of the main motivation was prices compared to russia. So we looked and touched (try) this model (but under different name, but the same technical model) here in shop. It seemed pretty attractive. Prices are the questions, about 9000 roubles, this one despite used condition (almost la perfecto) had half-price advantage. Better me to show this in US$, here new 300$, ebay used one cost about 150$. As it seemed locked? or or AT&T attractive. appeard it works flawless with main rus operators - Beeline, Megafon, MTS. Our local city operator requested the code. The main technical flaw or issue, whatever you call it - despite the perfect condition, and virgin screen surface - it appears that something wrong was with screen - AMOLED (dunno remember concrete techology of screen). Anecdotically - screen, being active and used with a static image (some icons, - like winphone square interface) can - how it say - burnit out. So later on some backgrounds like clear white - u can actually see that burnout icons - they are very transparent, little of yellowish color (in my case). On some backgrounds thay dont seemd at all. For me using this phone - its not an issue at all. But considering techincal side this can happens. I am experienced it user, so all the settings (some considered they as a hidden in winphone platform). Why 4 ? Because i want a little more "kewl" phone, the case were an issue. A little tought is a process leaving my nokias, the old ones, but with S60 platforms, 3g etc, little screens - to this one with huge screen compared to my fav used nokia 6730c. But winphone platform definetely should take some market, its good. IMHO Please, who whould read this report! If there are any comments can be posted, it would be splendit for me - write few words about my english writing skills. May be the Ebay guy can do it. Hasta luego!Read full review
PROS: -Nice screen -1.4 Ghz processor -Legendary Samsung quality -slim and sleek -Decent camera with flash and front- facing camera -Simple and easy to use -Decent speaker CONS: -No external memory -Receiving updates for the phone itself can be tedious. -Volume control takes getting used to. -Not as big of a selection of (good)apps. -Not quite as customizable. After breaking the screen on my captivate twice (don't throw phones against walls, it will end badly) I decided just to buy another phone. I always was curious about using a windows phone, so I decided to give this phone a try. I was a little discouraged and almost cancelled my order, but I decided to take a risk...it was worth it! This phone may be a step or two behind android or iPhone in some aspects, but WP 7.5 (mango) is a good platform and a worthy competitor. It's very good and this phone runs it almost perfectly with its fast 1.4 Ghz processor. Everything feels smooth and snappy on this phone. The interface is very fluent and straight forward. After playing around with it for a few hours, I got the hang of it and couldn't be happier. The windows marketplace still doesn't have that good of a selection of apps compared to the other guys, but it has everything I'll ever need (eBay, amazon, YouTube, etc.) The phone itself feels very solid and I love the screen. Its very bright and detailed. The camera on this phone works rather well and can actually shoot video in 720p. Not bad. The front facing camera is a nice touch. Heck, even the speaker is good. Of course, it is a phone speaker, but the best sounding one I've had yet. I have read complaints of this phone locking up sometimes when receiving messages. I personally never had this problem. As good as this phone is, it does have some quirks. The volume control takes getting used to. There is one master volume that controls the volume for everything. So if you're watching a video and have the volume turned down, when you exit the video you will have to turn the volume back up so you can hear the ringer. This isn't bad, but it's different and takes getting used to. Separate volume controls for things like media, ringer, messaging, etc. Would have been nice. Possibly the most common complaint you'll find about this phone is the lack of a micro sd drive. The phone has 8 gigs of internal storage. I can make it work for me, but if you do heavy downloading, watch out. Also, if WP ever has an update for itself ( Im not talking about updates for apps) then it's really a hassle. Instead of just sending the update to your phone, you have to turn on your computer, download some Zune software, connect your phone to the computer, and get your update through the Zune software...what? Why? That's really annoying. Luckily I only had to do this once. That is still inconvenient though and there should be a better way to get updates. It just seems so inefficient. Besides that, for those who are considering this phone, I must say go for it. This is a good, durable phone and the windows platform is impressive. It is a must for those that are big on social networking. As always, Samsung makes good stuff, and this phone is no exception.Read full review
I bought this phone a little over a year ago as a gently used phone. It looked new when I received it, so it was as close to new as one could hope for. In short, this has been my best cell phone ever...and I've owned over a dozen. I love being able to buy a GSM phone out of contract. The user interface of the Windows phone is great and very intuitive. It looks snazzy and even iPhone owners who look at my phone are impressed...some even a little jealous. I'm not app crazy, so maybe Microsoft doesn't have everything the apple store or google store offers, but there have been no shortage of apps for me. After using this phone a couple months, I bought my wife and my son a Samsung Windows phone (Focus 2 and Focus), and they have been great, trouble free phones as well for about a year now. The camera on this phone is really good. Close up focusing is impressive. I can get right up on stuff. Color capture isn't as good as an actual good camera but nice for a phone. Windows 8 is cool, but I honestly don't miss anything with this Windows 7 phone. Save some cash and put a solid, trouble free phone in your pocket. All that being said, here are a few points to mention: Sometimes you can bump the search soft key on these Windows phones and be taken to Bing when you didn't mean to go there. Also, a couple of times I have had to turn the phone off then on to get it out of silent mode, but that has been only a few times over 13 months. Batgtery life is good, but when out of signal range it will eat up battery quicker when searching for a signal. (I work in a dead-zone building.)Read full review
Microsoft invented the SmartPhone with PocketPC Phone Edition, and up until Windows Mobile 6.5, it was the most powerful, easy to use, and functional system. It fully integrated with Outlook and Exchange. Then, as usual, Apple dumbed everything down to a useless level popularized the Smartphone, stealing the market share and developer base from a product that remains today the best of its kind. So Microsoft decided it needed to imitate the idiocy. Windows Phone is an iPhone without apps, because they require a $99 developer fee just to be able to browse its contents. It has to integrate with Windows Live SkyDrive or sync with Zune, just as iPhone integrates with iCloud or syncs with iTunes. One would imagine Microsoft would keep their phone systems compatible with Outlook & Exchange. Not so much. Exchange support for Windows Phone is identical to that of iPhone and Android. Sadly, although I find Android lacking, it's the only option now for a fully featured Smartphone that isn't enslaved to a corporate notion or how you should be allowed use your phone.Read full review
I've bought this cellphone as an experiment to know more about Windows Phones. I was pleased with the experience until now, 5 days using it already. The battery lasts 2 or more days without problems, the OS is user-friendly, the screen is VERY nice. It's officially AT%T, but you can uninstall all AT&T's apps and leave it basically free. About the OS I just found that the offer of apps, specially free, is still a little bit small, but I think this problem will be solved in a while. I totally recommend this product. The price is awesome compared to what you get for it.
