This auction is for a Dinichthys (Dunkleoteus) vintage metal dinosaur figure made by the Sell Rite Giftware company (SRG) during the 1940's or 1950's. SRG made a large line of dinosaur, animal, and other figures that were sold in museum gift stores and direct mail through Natural History magazine and Junior Natural History (both published by American Museum of Natural History). In the magazine they were advertised as being "Royal Bronze." In reality, these figures are a heavy pot metal that is coated in a bronze patina. Most of the prehistoric animals came in 2 sizes. Each of the figures came with a little card brochure that pictured the animal and gave key information. Over the next few weeks I'll be selling a complete collection I've built up over the years. This auction is for the single rarest figure in the prehistoric series, the Dinichthys (Dunkleoteus) prehistoric armored fish. This guy is about 4.5 inches long. He has good overall patina, with the areas of wear as I've shown in the pictures. I don't know if the red in the mouth and eyes is original - I don't think so. I've had one other Dunk, and I've seen pictures of a couple, and none of the other ones had red paint. Also, note that there is a bump to his upper righ hand lip/jaw. This is a small area of damage, straight through the finish and into the base metal. There are no makers marks on this one (many of the other pieces will have "SRG 47" embossed into their body somewhere. A rare opportunity to add that keystone figure to your collection. The last pictures shows the complete collection that will be listed over the next few weeks, along with some Natural History magazines with ads for the dinosaurs and most of the cards (I never got them all). Please check out my store for vintage out of print books on toys and more vintage toys.

If the item was not misrepresented, I will refund the purchase price only -- not the shipping paid to get it to you, or for you to return it. I use a loupe to examine the toys while I'm listing them, and I try and mention the significant condition issues that I can see. I value my eBay reputation and I am not knowingly going to put out false or misleading info on a toy -- if I'm wrong about a fact about the toy I'll refund your money.
I leave feedback, so please do the same. If there is any problem with the item, contact me first, before leaving feedback, and we’ll work it out.
