For your consideration and for auction I offer a
POSTER ADVERTISING 'BARBEQUE 67'. s You can forget Glastonbury or Woodstock, it was Spalding which attracted rock gods Pink Floyd, Cream and the one and only Jimi Hendrix. This event, held in a hot, sticky cattle and bulb auction shed (now demolished) in the fenlands of Lincolnshire, was an unlikely venue for such an amazing line-up and probably became the forerunner of all rock festivals. Before Woodstock and the Isle of Wight were staged and at a time when Glastonbury was just a little hill in Somerset, Spalding blazed the trail! It was 29th May 1967 when The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Cream, Pink Floyd,The Move, Geno Washington and his band and Zoot Money and his Big Roll Band rolled into this sleepy Lincolnshire market town, supported by local band Sounds Force Five who played between each act as the roadies changed the equipment......... All this for just a £1. This original poster, believed to have been swept up after the event and left as found, has a little wear and tear and measures 14" x 8.5". I will start the auction for less than the price of entry on the day.....99p! The images will complete the description and I welcome all questions. All that remains is for me to thank you for your interest. Postage to the EU will be £6.99 (International Signed For). |
