Drawing is the fundamental art from which artists build and develop their ideas and themes. The study of artists drawings can be rewarding if the artist is committed to developing an original style, making a social comment, or presenting a pleasure visual statement. The work of Bruce Buck is really this on all counts. In this volume, the first of a series, he masterfully displays his talents by depicting the people and surroundings from his own life.
Colorado Springs, Colorado, has been the home of Bruce Buck for over 25 years. In his drawings we see depicted not only the magnificent beauty of Colorado's open plains and towering mountains, but also the complex lives of the people who have come to live in the space in between. His sensitive work will be a joy to all who examine this book.
He is active in painting, sculpture, and writing. The pen and ink drawings of this volume whet the appetite for more from the “quality native pundit” of Colorado.
This is a signed first edition printing of 2500 copies.
Bruce Meyer Buck was born in Denver on 15 April 1938 and died in Colorado Springs on 11 March 2010. He graduated from Littleton High School, Colorado College, received a Master of Fine Arts degree from Claremont College, and a Masters in Art Restoration from Colorado College. He taught at Lindenwood College in St Charles, Missouri and in the Art Department of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs from 1968-76, becoming the head of that department before his retirement.
