ANTIQUE CLOCKS by Time Marches On

This is truly a great clock with a beautiful case with the original finish in superior condition, HIGH QUALITY EVERYTHING, ITS ORIGINAL silver dial in one of the best condition we’ve ever seen. It is a very classy mantle clock in need of a warm loving home. It was made circa 1924. It has a signed "Seth Thomas Clock Co" 8-day time and CHIME movement (high quality complicated movement number 124 – description below) which chimes WESTMINSTER CHIMES on the quarter-hour. The movement runs very well and keeps good time.

The movement was just cleaned, oiled, pivots polished and bushings added where needed. We added new mainsprings while we were at it!

This clock will not need servicing for many years to come, and is ready for the next 100 years! This is a labor intensive service, with many clockmakers charging 250.00 and up. We recommend having it oiled every 2 to 3 years to keep it in tip-top shape! With the purchase of this clock for an additional $ 2.25 we will include an oiler kit with a professional oiler loaded with enough oil to oil approximately 50 clocks with easy instructions so you could even do it yourself!

The clock strikes on the quarter-hour and counts the hours on the hour on 5 chime rods with a beautiful sound.

It plays 4 notes at the first ¼, 8 notes on the half hour, 12 notes on the ¾ hour and 16 notes plus strikes the hour on the hour on 5 chime rods with a bold mellow, beautiful sound. It is a very strong runner! This is the only round Seth Thomas gothic Westminster Chime clock we’ve ever seen. You will not believe the huge beautiful chime sound that comes out of this clock. The Seth Thomas Clock Company was begun in 1820 by Seth Thomas Sr. and has been known for making high quality clocks. With this clock being ONE OF IT'S FINEST. (See the article on this movement in the pictures below.) The movement runs very well and keeps good time. The name Seth Thomas is synonymous with high quality and good taste. Not always the first on the scene with the latest movement "improvement" or flashy case style, Seth Thomas was slow to adopt changes and only when the marketplace had given it acceptance to other companys' breakthrough advances would Seth Thomas slowly and carefully bring their high quality clocks to the marketplace. The results, however, were always the same. When the Seth Thomas clock arrived it was an instant success and it captured the market.

As the years have passed, the quality of Seth Thomas clocks has been proven over and over. They are the best.

The case is also very beautiful with its original beautiful finish with an outstanding antique patina! It is in beautiful condition with even the finish. I doubt if the clock has been worked on much as the screws and screw holes for the movement are tight, with no additional screw holes.

The dial is all original.

In almost perfect condition. It has an adjustment for fast and slow on the dial which can be turned by the small end of the large Seth Thomas heavy double ended key, this way you don’t need to take the clock down from its shelf to adjust it for slow and fast. The metal around the dial (solid brass) is original with the original finish. Has its original hands! (see picture). Has its original “feet”.

This clock is probably a “one family” clock to retain all of the original pieces as well as being in “superior” condition.

Has its original back door! The movement is signed (see picture). Complete with the ORIGINAL Seth Thomas pendulum and a Seth Thomas large heavy duty key. Very rare for a clock to retain its original pendulum. One end to wind the clock and the other to adjust it for slow and fast. There is also a place for silent and chime on the dial. The original finish is nearly perfect after all this time, very shiny. Runs really great! The clock measures 10 inches high, 6 ½ inches deep and 7 ½ inches wide. Retains its original heavy bevel glass. These antique clocks amaze me - could you imagine any other consumer product still working after nearly 80 years! And the truly amazing thing with proper care they will work easily past the next 100 years, with this clock going well beyond that! If you are looking for an antique clock that looks like it was cherished its whole life – this is it!

Antique Clocks are a Fine Investment.

Antique clocks serve many purposes other than being useful in telling time, decorative in your home, a valuable asset in your estate and above all a faithful servant and friend which will be true to you to the end of time.

This clock will be packed very very carefully to insure a safe delivery

and the buyer is to pay $19.50 for shipping and ins. (This clock is quite heavy) I will gladly answer any emails promptly. I have always hated that "reserve" when I have bid myself so this fine clock has no reserve and a very very low (gulp) starting bid. We love these clocks and I will be glad to help you set up your new clock, or answer questions long after the sale via email.
