SETH THOMAS 4 DIAL TOWER CLOCK - Complete and Original

This is a rare opportunity to own a very complete and original Seth Thomas Tower Clock. There are two brass labels on the clock which indicate 
that this clock was manufactured in 1904 for the Montgomery Brothers who ran a very large jewelry store on the corner of Broadway and Fourth
Street in Los Angeles. Included in the picture section is an old photo of what I believe to be the store and the clock.

This historic clock is very complete with original clockworks, 4 way differential, four five foot diameter cast iron dials,3 power connecting shafts
which go from the differential to the clock dials, four sets of motion works, complete set of original hands mounted on correct hardware, original
weights and pulleys, (weights have the name Montgomery Bros embossed into the castings) beautiful pendulum rod and pendulum weight, original
crank and various small items of mounting hardware including a large quantity of clips to hold the light diffuser glass in position behind the dials. The
only item which appears to be missing is one of the power connecting shafts which was probably cut off to aid removal of the clock from its housing.
The correct hardware for the missing power connecting rod appears to be present so the only item necessary to complete the power transmission
system would be the addition of a 3/4 in OD section of galvanized pipe or aluminum tubing. Several of the clock dial sections still have complete,
whole sections of diffuser plate glass which could be used as templates for new glass backing. Most of the glass contained in the dial sections (There
are six sections per dial-total 24 sections) is either missing or was broken during the clock disassembly process.

I have rebushed several of the bronze bearings on the clockworks that were worn a little more than I liked although the clock ran fine before I did
the rebushing. The scape wheel on the dead beat escapement was cleaned along with its shaft. The pallet fork shaft and pallets were cleaned up.
Otherwise the clock is completely original with beautiful patina and paint- amazing for an antique clock now over one hundred years old! I would
encourage a new owner to leave the clock as original as possible. We should always be conscious of passing on as much as possible of the knowledge
and craftsmanship which went into the creation of these beautiful clocks.

This would be a wonderful addition to a museum, a collectors set of antiques or could be used as an historic centerpiece for a town square or

commercial enterprise.

The clock can be used either as a street clock or tower clock I would be happy to assist in the location of a qualified professional tower clock company
to restore the dials and install the clock. We have a very qualified Fed Ex shipper in a nearby town who could crate and ship this clock at very reasonable
rates. I will be happy to transport the clock to this FedEx business at no charge.
