All of the drive specs on this used 500GB drive are 100 percent except for spin-up time which shows 84%. Could be that it's just a larger drive, but Speed-Fan's health report only gave it 95%. I presume it will be just fine for my older Dell laptop, certainly enough storage space for my needs. Very good value all-in-all, you get what you pay for when buying used electronics. I'll just have to be careful to back up personal data on my cloud drive. One and one half years later . . . It's doing just fine and the speed fan specs haven't changed. Yea! Good bang for the buck.
I've been around computers since 1973, and I've used dozens of hard disk drives in that time. When i needed a larger hard drive in my MacBook, I turned to a name that I was familiar with - Seagate. This itty-bitty hard drive holds 500 GB, is very quiet, easy to install, and was inexpensive. I don't give Five-Star ratings often, but I'm giving the Seagate ST500LM012 Hard Drive all five.
I bought this to play backups on my PS2 based on the PS2 hard drive compatibility list. It was very important that the model was exact - this was my biggest worry. Thankfully, the drive is exactly as described; proper model, etc. It works great!

Bought this for my son's PS3 that only came with 12G. Had no idea Play Station downloaded everything to the hard drive and 12G was nowhere near enough. Never played with the hardware of any computer I was able to install this in literally 2 minutes. I didn't buy the mounting bracket. You may want to get one cuz it holds it in place better, but I used a lego to hold it in place and it works fantastically. You just need a quarter inch support and a lego was virtually free, the bracket is like $20.00 and I'm cheap.
Reliable, easy to install, works year after year.
