To start off, I am 36 yrs old, more than 100 pounds overweight, and not very active.I wanted to start exercising to slim down and get in shape. I have always loved Richard Simmons' work outs. When I was in my 20's I owned his Dance Your Pants Off and Tonin Up and Down town, and Disco Sweat so I've always been a fan. I found his workouts to be for the beginner to intermediate audiance with different varieties of people. You would see all different sizes from small to large and young and older people working out with him. So when I ordered the "Slim Away Everyday" I was expecting the same thing. WRONG! This work out is HARD! Maybe not for someone in good shape and use to working out already. First of all, my 16 yr old daughter, who is in pretty good shape, my mom who is in her 60's and goes to the gym 3 to 4 times a week and myself tried to do one of the aerobic dvd's from this set.Needless to say I had to sit out a few times. I was so sweaty and tired I had to fully quit about 20 minutes into it. My daughter, now out of breath, dropped out on the couch about 5 minutes behind me."She was through" She couldn't finish either. Now my mom hung in there and finished the workout. She had so much sweat pouring down her face. She said she didn't want to do that with me again and that it was too challenging for her. She said the only reason she was able to finish was because she was use to working out already, but stressed,I'm not doing that one again!" I decided to go for his "Sweatin to the Oldies volume 1." I'm not able to finish it completely yet. I also am doing Leslie Sansone's "Walk This Way" work out for beginners where you walk with her one mile at a time. They are both challenging enough for me (a TRUE beginner) and it makes me work up a sweat, plus with "WALK THIS WAY" by Leslie Sansone, I was able to complete the first mile on my 1st try. I like it. PLUS let me also mention that all of the people in "SLIM AWAY EVERYDAY" are at a healthy weight. No one in it was real large like some of the people you see in his other workout tapes. Probably because the workout is too advanced. Now, I am not saying anything bad about this set. All I'm saying is it is too hard for me at this point. I plan to work up to it so I can use it in the future. So just be warned, if you are out of shape this might be a bit much to handle as a true beginner.Read full review
