First I watched Denis Leary's biography, they talked about Rescue Me approx 20mins and Denis Leary's involvement with firefighters. I also loved the movie Ladder 49, so I thought this may be a program I would enjoy. I LOVE IT!! After 3 episodes I bought seasons 2 and 3 trying to get caught up before season 4 on June 3rd. Every episode is a cliffhanger, fast pace, kind of like a soap yet totally different as it has action, comedy, and LOTS OF DRAMA! I love each caracter (esp. Denis Leary) and can't wait to see what's going to happen in their lives next. This is not a program for people who are easily offended, adult language, content and controversial topics, but it's great entertainment. Hope Denis Leary keeps on for several more seasons, he's awesome!!Highly recommended. Knowing a firefighter, this show is accurate as firefighters are totally underpaid and unappreciated.Read full review
With so much bad T.V. these days it is great to know that there are still some great shows, with that in mind "Rescue Me" the complete first season is a sign there is still hope. In the first season their is of course many introductions of characters and all with their own personal issue's that provide this show with a road of many twists and turn. With so many turns in the road there no chance of getting bored. The characters are brought to life by a great cast that gives the show the extra drama. The best part now is that the show is now on DVD so a person that is curious about the show and didn't get to see the first season can watch it, or even the a fan of "Rescue Me" can relive those moments that make the series original. To sum it up it's worth the buy.
This show is one of my favorites. The DVDs were a great price in great condition.

The show is good in general I have watched a few on FX but I had not seen ever show so I bought the entire season. I bought it because I'm a Fire Fighter and some of the things happen in real life or are things that could happen. But some of the Things the fire fighters on the show do are not things you would want to do in a real fire or on a fire scene. That said I like the show a lot and it shows that a fire fighters life is not always happy and great dealing with the drama at work then at home as many on the show do.
Denis Leary stars in this series set in NYC. Learys plays Tommy Gavin a NYC firefighter and the series open ups 2 years after 9/11. The men are still reeling with the after effects of loosing 343 men and thier house lost 4. Tommy is seperated from his wife, but moves in across the street to be close to his 3 children. He bribes his kids for information about his wife, but does love his kids dearly. He struggles with alcholism and anger. Tommy lost his best friend, his cousin Jimmy in 9/11 but still is visited by him. Tommy has trouble with other dead people visiting him. The writing is gritty and real to life. The series is a study of relationships that develop between men who work close together in life and death situations. My husband and I both enjoy this series, it is written well and makes us laugh! I have also purchased season 2 & 3 and intend on owning 4 and 5 also!Read full review
