On this 1984 collection, Bob and band rock out on some tunes that were originally done in a more mellow vein. Right off the bat, he plays a fast, hard-rocking version of Highway 61 Revisited, which is not a replacement for the original, but very impressive. He also nearly rewrites Tangled Up In Blue, but tells an intriguing new tale in so doing. At first this seemed blasphemous, since this is one my favorite tunes, but then you realize - it's HIS song! He can do whatever he pleases with it! There is also a souped-up vesion of Masters of War, which, although he leaves some verses out, is a good rendition. He closes out with a modified Tombstone Blues, so if you are a big fan of the Highway 61 Revisited album, you will be thrilled with having 3 selections from that release (Ballad of a Thin Man being the other). He also includes decent versions of two from his (then) most-recent LP - Infidels. I don't usually give 5 stars, especially for Live albums (I compare them all to Frampton Comes Alive) - but this one gets 5 from me.Read full review
This is some great, live Dylan. Mick Taylor joins Dylan on guitar - the same Mick Taylor who happened to be the best guitarist the Stones ever had and after he left the Stones their overall musicianship suffered for it. Dylan is sharp, driven, and energetic. I am glad I bought this "album" and I highly recommend it to Dylan and Taylor fans.
The cd was as described....as it was described as used, about the only thing used about it was the celophane was removed. Nice product...fair price....no complaints.
Bob Dylan shows himself to be a man who puts his pants on one leg at a time - just like everybody else.
