This is a well-loved and played with toy from at least 1950 if not older. Price reflects his uniqueness and age (also FREE shipping) he stands 3 1/2" tall . he holds inside his hollow body 5 little people of his family. looks like the wife, then a boy (w/ black hair) then 2 girls w/ blond hair, then baby who looks unpainted except for little dots of eyes
the tiny one does not have a bottom . I do not know if it ever had one. the next smallest is missing its bottom.
the paint is pretty good on these there is no indication where these were made. all wooden paint is good and shiny on the inside people as they have been mostly tucked away. His paint has some scratches and he has small indentations ( from playing with it?)
. they have tiny hole in bottom from production and circular lines from the lathe. could be hand painted , but it is very fine detailed paint & is all shiny - could be hand-made |
