| The watch has just been fully overhauled and cleaned by my watch-maker and is keeping excellent time.This watch is guaranteed to be a genuine Swiss Rolex Oyster cushioned cased men's Deco period wrist watch, in excellent condition and is signed to the dial, movement, case and button. The dating of the watch from the excellent book by Hess and Dowling on their history of Rolex. This Rolex Oyster manual wind watch is in very fine and superb condition and a fabulous and highly practical watch for every-day use. THE DIAL: 100% mint, the black and gold dial with raised gold Arabic numerals, signed "Rolex Oyster " to the centre. Dial with very fine and original gold dauphine hands with centre seconds. Diameter is 26 mm. The crystal is also in excellent condition. The dial looks a tiny bit hazy due to reflections from the crystal but is in fact perfect. THE MOVEMENT: 100% mint, with polished and highly reflective steel plates and finely engraved balance cock in stunning condition. A shiny blued steel Bosely regulator, and ruby endstone setting, blue steel screws. With Rolex balance, with overcoiled hairspring and with 15 jewels. The plates in very fine condition, with the rhodium plating in excellent order and gold filled engrvaing also nice and crisp. The original steel "Oyster Patent" stamped winding crown in fine condition. The winding button screws down tightly onto the case post and the threads are in perfect condition. This movement is a very fine and original example of Rolex classic engineering at its very best. The movement clearly signed, "Rolex ", 15 rubies, Swiss Made", a 10 1/5 hunter grade movement. THE CASE: 99% mint, the 9k gold three piece case measures an impressive 28 mm x 34 mm. The front of watch with nicely finished front bezel, typical of early Rolex Oyster watches. The case is as near mint as one can find with no dings, dents or scratches to the top. The front cover is excellent and the watch with a screw in 9k gold rear cover and fully hall-marked as well and early dedication dated 1938. The back cover with serrated edge which screws in tightly with a new rubber sealing washer. The serrated edge to rear cover in fine order, with a few tiny pock marks. The case clearly marked Rolex (R.W.C.Ltd) and Oyster Watch Co., with a mass of patents; and also SAR symbol and Rolex crown. The screw in original Rolex Oyster crown fully marked and working perfectly. The cover with Rolex marks, 37,xxx and case type 2420. THE BRACLET: 100% mint, the watch comes with a new leather watch bracelet in excellent condition. The watch comes with a new red leatherette presentation box to store the watch in when not in use. Overall, this is a very fine and highly desirable early Rolex Oyster cushioned cased wrist watch, dating from 1938. The watch keeps excellent time and is very useable for every-day wear or for best wear on holidays and birthdays.
