While today with our society so split between left and right many people tend to literally judge a book not so much by its cover but by its author. It is ashamed many people on the left who refuse to open their minds to anything that smacks of conservatism will refuse to read this book simply because it is written by the late William F. Buckley, Jr. They are going to miss a truly wonder adventure book. Bill Buckley leaves his politics at the dock, and as in his other two volumes Atlantic High and Airborne, write a simply enthralling and fun book on sailing and comaradary. He, after all, was a masterful sailor. If you can get around some of his propensity toward comlex explanations of modern navigational aids you will feel the crest of every wave and the ocean spray in your face while you hold the wheel steady in the cockpit. His his extrodinary ability to describe nature and life may never be surpassed. So, if you are looking for fun and the thrill of danger you won't want to miss this terrific read.Read full review
