RUSSIAN BORDER AREA FINE KILIM PILLOW VEGETABLE DYES_24''

I m offering this old gorgeous handmade pure wool good condition (washed and ready to use) Kurdish kilim pillow cover, made of from old kilims with vegetable dyes.

 Girls in this area, when they are engaged, they start weaving a kilim and they try to give their wishes, hopes and how respectful they will be to their family and children. And before the nuptial husband gives a gold or a diamond  necklace and says welcome to my life, welcome to your house. With a shyness girl gives the kilim that she weaved for him. Than they hold it to their wall and live a wonderful night by reading the meanings of this lovely kilim.

 This one and fine pieces like this have been woven by young girls with small fingers with out any design catalog in fronth of their eyes. All the designs are by their own imeginations, sometimes they weave their happiness sometimes their dreams. Because all the design and the color have different meanings.  It has been woven by one lady only,young girls who make this fine kilims, after they make one way weaving they have a heavy iron comp that they push on the kilim they weave, to make it tighter.

 You might see very little damage or dirt on this lovely pillow, which is very normal, because you are watching an antique (80 to 90 years old ) kilim pillow. And before I list my items, I send them to the professional rug repirmen if they need to be repaired. 

 The dyes are all vegatable dyes. It had been washed maby hundreds of times and the colors are fabulous as you see at the pictures. Because the vegetable dyes rugs and kilims will always look much beautiful after washing and using them. Washing them is like their medicine. If you like it at the picture, you would love the real of it.
