ROYAL WORCESTER CHINA Platter & CUP RARE Pattern 1891
Royal Worcester English China,raised
cake plate, and condiment cup, rare pattern, dated 1891
We are very pleased to offer this
rare pattern Royal Worcester raised cake plate and condiment
cup.
These two pieces of Royal Worcester
China can be dated to 1891. They are very rare, we have found
very little with regard to the pattern name, or matching pieces.
All we can see is the hand painted "w" over the number
2010. There is also a "D dot 3" that can be seen on
both pieces. The cake plate has a raised angled lip, and a low
compote style foot. The foot is 3/4 of an inch tall. Both the
cake plate and the condiment cup are a light buff, vitreous
clay body. The plate has a clear gloss glaze applied to the
bottom, or exterior. Both are hand painted, with at least three
types of flower blossoms, with stems, and leaves. There is also
a beautiful use of a gold luster to accent the floral designs.
The gold lustre is also used on the rim of the cake plate, as
well as an accent on the foot rim. The small condiment cup has
a clear gloss glaze interior and a gold accent applied to the
top rim.
The condiment cup stands approximately
2 1/8 inches tall. It is 3 1/4 inches at the top rim, and 2
inches at the foot. The cup weighs 2.8 ounces.
The cake plate is 10 inches in diameter,
it stands 1 1/4 inches in height. The foot is 6 1/8 inch in
diameter. The platter weighs 1.25 pounds.
These two pieces are in very good
shape. There are no chips, cracks, crazing, or abrasions. The
hand painted pattern is in beautiful shape.
Perhaps you are one of the lucky few
who have pieces to match this pattern. Wouldn't these pieces
make a wonderful addition to your collection.
