Ok, they’re back….. As many know, Ron has been focusing more
on creating great guitars resulting in little time for supplying these amazing
templates. Therefore he has turned them over to me; I am his Son-in-law, and in
close proximity to him. He will continue to support any questions you may have,
email him at ron at ronkirn dot com.
You will receive the same templates he has made available
for years, the very same. They were made from a genuine vintage Tele,
and include his books, the first on using the templates, and the second, his
book on The Ultimate Tele, a “How To” book describing how to assemble the
components all the way through to a completed guitar. Both are written in a
style that allows even the woodshop novice to successfully complete their
The auction is for one set of Tele templates.
If you would like to see a tele being made using these same templates see this link: http://www.tdpri.com/forum/tele-home-depot/88209-building-guitar-hummmm.html
The Tele came from what is thought to be a 1950 Broadcaster,
But Ron cannot attest, here’s why.
A couple of years ago Ron received a call from an older
gentleman in southern Georgia;
he had an oooooold Tele he needed help with. Ron said sure, if he could use it
to produce a set of templates.
He had to go up there carrying the necessary tools, and made
it on site. It was indeed old, and had been refinished several times. The owner
would not allow him to “clean it up” to uncover the details that would verify
the date. But through the “buckle rash” he could see one of the correct pegs,
and the electronics rout was the correct shape as identified in Nacho’s book,
several other features suggested its authenticity. We’ll just leave it there.
To see examples of the guitars Ron has made with these very
templates please visit his site. I cannot list the URL so just Google Ron Kirn.
They are made of 1/4" MDF.
So c’mon, what are ya waiting for, you have always wanted to
build your own, so now is the time….
Price is 45.00 which includes his book offered elsewhere on
eBay at 12.00 and a second book detailing the correct procedure to make the body.
