This is a vintage out of production Rivarossi/AHM Illinois Central (IC) Casey Jones Old Time 1880s-1900s Style Steam Locomotive and Tender 4-6-0 `Ten Wheeler`. Condition:
This model is in excellent condition. I see nothing obviously broken, damaged, or missing.
I test ran it and it ran well in both directions and the headlight works.
The brochure is included (see photo below) as well as a cardboard model cover. The brochure says "Pocher" and the model says Rivarossi. This must be about the time that Rivarossi bought Pocher and started incorporating it into its line. And, AHM imported it to the US. Alas, the original box has seen better days. The box is worn and has a scar on the label end. The plastic liner is torn and taped underneath. The cellophane is loose and taped inside.
Don't let the box fool you; the model is spic and span. Comment:
This would make a nice addition to your Illinois Central collection or layout. Vintage Rivarossi models were made in Italy. Rivarossi began manufacturing models in the 1950's and ceased manufacturing in the mid 1990's. Hornby bought the name and today offers limited modern production of some Rivarossi models from old Rivarossi molds.
I consider vintage Rivarossi models as collectibles; they are not new (even if unused). I describe all vintage Rivarossi models as used or as new old stock, never as new, as best as I am able. My ratings tend to be conservative and I never say 'mint' (because it is overused) and rarely say 'rare'; if I miss something, I will make it right.
All vintage Rivarossi models that exist date from the pre-Hornby era are all there ever will be and comes from old dealer stock and collectors' hands. It is becoming harder and harder to find these out of production models. Be sure to get yours while you still may with relative ease.We keep our models in an above-ground, conditioned, smoke-free, and pet-free room. Vintage models may have been stored anywhere before I acquired them. For ages 12 and up. Do You Like This?
