Item specifics

Up for auction today is a beautiful vintage Leather jacket. This is a Grizzly leather motorcycle jacket, in well used condition. This jacket is the rarest and most sought after of the vintage motorcycle jackets.

  • Brand: Tag is missing, on the inside of the right side of liner.
  • Size: I would put this jacket at a 44, maybe 46, after slipping it on for a second. Sleeve length might be short for a typical modern era 46, but there is plenty of room in the stomach and chest for me. I'm a 38 and slim and usually need a bit longer sleeve than is ordinary. Please refer to the measurements for fit, and please ask for more measurements if you feel you need them..
  • Measurements: 24" armpit to armpit, 29" from top of collar to the bottom edge, 19" shoulder seam to shoulder seam, 26" from shoulder seam to the end of the cuffs. Bear in mind that the shoulders were tough to measure because of the Raglan shoulders and there is no true shoulder seams. The measurements could just as easily be 20" shoulder to shoulder and 25" sleeve, if measured to a bit farther out on the shoulders.
  • Color: Browns. Brass zipper and belt, nickle cuff buckles.
  • Condition: This jacket is in well worn condition. Overall the jacket varies between well worn spots where wear would show up most, and lightly worn spots where you would not normally expect wear. There is significant wear to the shoulders and the cuffs, and down the sleeves leading to the cuffs. One of the cuffs is particularly worn more than the other, as you should see in the pics. One of the shoulders has a split seam, and it won't take much stress on that to make the split seam worse. So that needs professional care, and the sooner the better as you don't want to make it worse. The lamb shearling panels on the body of the jacket are in excellent shape with no loss and are solid as can be. Only the very top corner of the left back is lifting from the leather body of the jacket. The lamb of the collar is a different story. Along the collar seam/ bend there are spots of loss, and spots where the lambswool is still there but clearly wanting to come off, and in the process of coming off. And one of the tips of the collar has some loss. This is also a point where this jacket could use some professional conservationist care. The leather itself could surely use some conditioning, but I will have to leave that to the next owner as I am no professional with leather care and did not do anything to it so as to avoid making an error with my care choices. It has marks and dings, and a few digs/ snags to the leather all around. The belt is also showing significant wear - it's solid still, but definitely well worn. There is one rip that needs repair to the left cuff liner, which should be very clear in the pictures. The cotton twill army style liner (100% original) is in remarkably good shape for it's age. No split seams there and no real significant wear other than general light surface abrasion and matting from the jacket's use over the years. Plus the one spot on the shoulder where it has torn, same shoulder as the one in need of repair on the leather outside. Take a very close and long look at the condition of the jacket in the pictures and please ask questions. This is surely a jacket with great plusses and minuses as far as condition, and with some proper care could be a very nice piece that will continue to last. PLEASE TAKE NOTE - this jacket has significant age wear and will need care.
  • Features: Horsehide (the leather is a rich auburn color under the surface coating, which leads me to believe it is definitely horsehide. Cowhide is a very light tan color underneath when the paint of a jacket wears away, and this is nothing like that.) jacket. Talon brand brass main zipper. Brass main waist buckle with nickle double loop cuff buckles. The jacket has interior green knit cuffs, a little bit of extra fit and warmth there. Lambswool shearling body panels and collar. Heavy duty cotton twill liner still in great shape. Neck button closure for extra warmth.
