RARE Antique 3-light Marine Navigation light – Solar. Model 21G -, Carbide light, circa 1895-1920 Recent find – antique brass marine carbide navigation light with 3 separate lenses – white beacon light, magnifying clear center lens is 5 inches round thick flat class, (an old chip on the lens edge at about 4 o’clock, remainder of glass is solid). The vent top system is in good condition. Overall measures 14 inches tall, and 12 inches wide. This might be a mast light system? The side lights, port and starboard, each 4 inch , original glass in good condition. Fuel regulating knob is present. Appears to be in all original condition. The beacon lens body is made of brass and copper. The beacon lens is retained in its frame, which snaps out for cleaning, burner access, etc. The latch frame bar is stamped “Solar. Model 21G” . The Light body sits on and attached to the carbide tank which is 4 inches tall and 3 inches diameter. There are old solder repairs to the center cowling, left bezel ring, and carbide tank. There is a solid heavy brass pole or rod mounting fitting on the reverse, for a 1-1/4 x 3/8 rod, with has a ¼ inch set screw to allow height adjustment or lamp removal. The carbide tank has a stress-cracked area with a ¼” hole in the use-hardened brass where a piece has dropped out. This area could be repaired with careful soldering if Buyer wishes to do so. WITH THE MOUNTING BRACKET, THIS LIGHT COULD BE MOUNTED ON A FLAT PIECE OF WOOD, ETC. WHICH COULD THEN SIT ON A TABLE - WOULD ALSO FACILITATE AFFIXING A LIGHT / SHADE FIXTIRE AS A TABLE LAMP. It will make a nice office or home conversation piece. This light could be electrified by a skilled person. The light has not been cleaned and is all original – antique patina is fine. Weight 14lbs packed well. Shipping is FREE
