Great gun for beginners and intermediate players alike. This gun is essentially an upgraded Ion, but with the Hyper 3 regulator, Ultralite frame and DYE barrel all included it's one of the best deals around. Efficiency is great, but rate of fire is limited to 15 bps with the stock board and bolt. Plastic feedneck is not so great, but easily replaced with a metal collar. Overall I don't think you can get a better gun than this right now for the money. I'd recommend this to anyone. PS: This gun also makes a GREAT mech spool project!

This marker came in the original box with everything but the manual, which I downloaded online from the Proto website. This marker is very small and compact and light for a midrange level paintball marker.Out of the box this used marker broke paint which did not surprise me .Reading through the manual this marker just needed to be cleaned and lubbed,I also replaced a couple of O rings the manual suggested(replacement O rings and allen keys come in the box).Once I was done,I test fired the PMR with paintballs ,it shot flawlessly. This Special Edition PMR comes with metal alloy parts-adjustable feedneck, eye covers and bolt backcap, parts that you would probaly upgrade anyway. This shoots great, has a nice feel to it.I would suggest this as being a good paintball marker as long as you do proper maintenance on it.I would also suggest that you get one with the Ultralite trigger frame(has more adjustability and a better trigger).Read full review
Great gun, put a case of paint through it already and it's quiet, efficient, with no recoil. Love the look. Only shitty thing is you have to remove the grip to get at the firing modes for the board, bit of an oversight by Dye there but everything else is great. Not a problem for me though as I don't switch modes in the middle of games. If you like to do this then this gun isn't for you. I stripped it down and although people say this spool valve is more time consuming to clean and lube, it really didn't take long and it was my first time. Super easy to do as well, even took apart the Reg and got to the orings in there no problem. The trigger is really nice! Sturdy, and easy to walk it. It's also fully adjustable for depth and angle without dismantling it which is a great bonus as trigger preference can really up your game when walking that trigger. The Dye Ultralight barrel that this gun comes with is known for its it's quality and it surely didn't dissapoint . Love this gun. Fully recommend it. I got mine for $350USD which is about $150 cheaper than ANS Gear. Great deal for a marker that had never been fired. Great product!Read full review

I just learned about Proto Markers. They are a company started by Dye. Dye guns are amazing and are used in serious paintball tournaments. But they are expensive($1000+). So Dye started Proto, so they could make cheaper guns, but keep them high performance, and they succeeded. I have tried many guns (Tippmann, Spyder, Invert, Autococker) and I am really impressed with the Proto Marker line. They are great guns for the price. I like them so much, I went out and bought three of them. An SLG and two PMR. They are high quality, well built, stylish, reliable, quiet, light, accurate, fast, smooth, and fun. People who complain about them are people who don't know how to maintain a paintball marker. Since Proto guns are "spool valve" guns, they require proper cleaning and lubing.
very nice milling on body..lightweight..fast shooter. great for the weekend warrior who doesnt want to spend a alot on a marker. It has alot of aftermarket upgrades availible for it as well. after being out of the paintball scene for a few years.. i wanted to try a different brand,i used to shoot smart parts shocker. proto/dye have always made great guns,so i figured id give them a whirl this go round..love it so far. feels nice and balanced when in shooting postion. left or right handed it will lay down ropes of paint.
