I am an average player who shoots in the 80s. I have found these clubs to be so easy to hit with the added weight out by the toe which is my miss hit area. What I really like is that the strike feels so soft and solid, like a well struck blade iron -- buttery. Typically, I play with regular flex steel shafts, but even with these stiff shafts the shots come off the face beautifully. I have tried the newer Pings and the old stand by Ping Eye 2s, but they dont feel as good as these irons and the results are so predictable and reliable. The shots are not too high or too low, just perfect. The steel heads feel as good as the nickel or coppers with out the added cost. Also, I like the sole design where I an pick the ball off of a tight lie and it slides through the rough with ease. The clubs that I use have been hit many times and the grooves are just fine. I think it is a very durable club so dont worry about the face with many little scrathes or nicks. With the right ball, I play a ProV1x, the ball spins back with these old scratch up clubs. I simply love them and wouldnt trade or switch to any other club. Lastly, I like the way they look, kind of quirky; but I mostly love how the ball feels off the face and the perfect trajectory. These clubs would be great for any player, beginner to low handicapper. I highly recommend these clubs.Read full review
First off I have a few one irons (its the one iron I purchased) and have been using them for years especially off the tee when my driver is spraying. Keeping the ball in the short grass is more important than distance on courses with lots of trees. Also I use one irons at the driving range to tune up my swing and if I'm hitting it well I know my timing is good. List of my one irons with average distance and directional tendency 1) Wilson 1969 "bullet back" 200 yds medium height straight. 2) MacGregor 1966 PT 1 160-180 yds too inconsistent to put in bag. 3) MacGregor 1990 remake of 67-68 VIP 200 yds similar to Wilson in trajectory. 4) Ping ISI 220 yds medium-low staight as an arrow, wind piercing. I hit it as far as my 5 wood only with much better directional control. On miss-hits it still gives a small shock to the hands to let you know you screwed up but no where near as much as the Wilson. I don't have a full set of them yet but will before next season. I rate them a 10 out of 10 for distance, accuracy, feel and laser like piercing trajectory.Read full review
While the price was excellent, the grip wasn't desirable. That was easily fixed by having the club re gripped. Overall, I'd definitely buy from this vendor. Got the club 2 days after my order. Thanks for that!

Our son golfs right-handed but does some other things left handed so he has some dexterity with both hands. Periodically, on the golf course, he would get into a situation where it would be much better if he had a lefty club. My husband remembered this when we were buying Christmas gifts and got it for him. He was surprised AND very happy with the gift. I expect it will help him in those infrequent lies for many years into the future.
It's a Ping, so it's awesome of course. This one completed my ISI set. With the popularity of the hybrid club most golfers I know are dumping their 1 or 2 irons, if they ever had them at all. I still like having a full set of irons at my disposal just in case I need a change, and my driver can get a little wild at times.
