I purchased this cookbook for someone else, but out of curiosity, read bits and pieces of the book. The writer is enthusiastic and personable, her methods organized and scientific (but not to the extreme), and her information so very helpful to those transitioning from one altitude to another and struggling to make their baking turn out pleasing to the diners. It's sort of an enjoyable diary and cookbook in one.

I live in the small mountain community of Big Bear Lake, CA and have always had a hard time with my baking recipes turning out under done or over done. Not any more since I purchased this wonderful cook book.

For those of us living at high altitudes, baking can be a challenge. Many recipes have adjustments, but often they don't work or (even less helpful) they tell you to call your local agriculture department for high altitude adjustments. This book is the solution! Each recipe has ingredient and baking time/temperature adjustments for a wide range of altitudes: 3000, 5000, 7,000 and more.
The recipes are easy to follow. It has great charts with each recipe showing the adjustments at different altitudes. Most recipes are normal with no weird ingredients. Easy to read text. Great color photos.
Very informative cookbook! Living at 5000 ft above sea level, this book is great!
