We search the world over for vacuum tubes sets which we classify as PREMIUM.  They are value-priced (they don’t cost a small fortune) and make you and your amp sound great.

We choose many tubes from the 1940’s to the present.  Some tubes may have been hidden away for years in old warehouses, military bunkers, storage sheds or grandpa’s attic.  They come from Russia, Europe, Asia, and the good ole USA.  Recent great finds include Russian military (1960’s to 1980’s usually including 6V6/6N6C, 6L6GC/5881 equivalents, and 6BQ5/EL84/6P14P equivalents, etc).  When they get into our tube lab, they are quality tested on Hickok 539B or 580 tube testers for gain, life test, shorts and physical appearance.  MATCHED TUBE SETS are matched first for manufacturer (tube code, not label) and then for gain/current draw.

We often get tubes that are decades old it and it is hard to determine if they are New in the Box (NIB), New Old Stock (NOS), bulk lots sold without boxes, or replacement tubes with great life still left in them.  Our extensive experience and comprehensive testing means we throw out a lot of old and new tubes if they test below minimum “NEW” reading on our calibrated tube testers or they don’t pass the LIFE TEST.  You can be assured that all the tubes we sell are NIB/NOS or tested new or better according to manufacturer standards.  We don’t specify the brands sold in Premium Tube sets since we want to give you the BEST VALUE for the price. Combined Shipping: We do combine shipping for all items bought within several days – so save on shipping costs and pick up another item!  Before paying, please wait for a combined shipping invoice from us to take advantage of this benefit.

Domestic (U.S.A.) Shipping:

Captain Bob’s ships via USPS Priority Mail and Express Mail to confirmed PayPal addresses.  Email tracking information is available and will be sent to your Paypal or eBay email address when the package is shipped. If you have a question about shipping for your item, we prefer communication via eBay messaging (not email) so that we can keep track of your concerns within our eBay family.

You must pay for insurance . and NOT included in shipping and handling fees or for auctions offering “free shipping” unless we require it on the individual auction. If you decline insurance and the item arrives broken/damaged or not at all, we will not be responsible.  Free Shipping auctions use priority mail only in the USA.

We usually ship daily during US Pacific Standard Time business hours, unless we are away from the office on a trip.  Notification for our long trips is posted in our store and on all of our auctions to alert our customers when their item will be shipped. We accept purchases and orders everyday, 24 hours a day.  Domestic priority delivery times are typically 3-7 days after you are notified of the shipping date.  If you need it fast, choose the Express Mail option.

We combine shipping costs, so buy more than one item and save on shipping for multiple items!

International Shipping:

Since many of our items are fragile, high value and paid via Paypal, Captain Bob’s only ships via First Class Mail (uninsured, no tracking), USPS Priority Mail International or Express Mail. Priority Mail International is preferred for our customers, since it is faster and safer (tracking) than First Class shipping. We declare that the contents are "Vacuum Tubes" (if applicable) on the customs slip at full auction value.  Auction shipping quotes do not include international insurance or custom’s fees which are the responsibility of the buyer. If you request insurance, your item must be shipped via Priority or Express Mail with an added insurance fee. Buyers will pay custom’s fees on the declared value or insured amount.

You can determine the international shipping to your country by using the shipping calculator at the bottom of the auction.  Choose your country and click the “UPDATE” box for rates to your country.

Captain Bob’s specializes in International sales, but due to customs and other circumstances out of our control, we are not responsible for items not delivered or if the shipment is damaged or lost and was NOT INSURED!. Insured items can be recovered through the USPS. We will assist buyers with their insurance claims, but do not offer any reimbursement from our business. USPS First Class Mail does NOT provide online tracking or insurance for your item, so please choose PRIORITY MAIL or EXPRESS MAIL INTERNATIONAL if you want to be able to track or insure your item!!!! If you use First Class Mail, please remember that we cannot track your item once it leaves our local Post Office, nor can they track your item. RETURN POLICY & WARRANTIES: Captain Bob’s Electronic Emporium warrants against “DOA” (“dead-on-arrival”) or differences between an item description (exclusive of illustrative pictures) and the items received.  Any DOA or defective item should be returned (e.g. in transit back to us with a copy of the invoice) within 3 days of your receipt of the item and notification to us using Ebay messaging for our record.  Please include a brief description of the problem and use your eBay ID in all correspondence. 

Occasionally we ship the wrong tube or tube set and we will gladly replace the wrong shipment with the proper item at our cost.  We test all tubes prior to shipment and warrant that they test as “new” or better on our calibrated tube tester.  Due to differences in vintage tube gear we can not guarantee that the tubes will test as well in your tube tester or will meet the specifications of your particular equipment or are fit for a particular application.

We DO NOT WARRANT the operation of our tubes in defective amplifiers or electronic equipment!  If you plug our tubes into your equipment and the tubes fail to light up or flash on power up or otherwise fail and upon return to our labs we measure dead tubes, then you WILL NOT RECEIVE A REFUND for the tubes returned.  Make sure your amplifier/electronic equipment is operational before you plug in new tubes (from us or any other vendor).  If you are not sure, take your equipment to a qualified technician who can install our tubes correctly.

If you need to return your purchase and request a refund, we do not refund shipping and insurance charges that were incurred to ship the product to you or return the product to us.  If your purchase has a refund option (check the auction), we will issue a refund only after the products are returned and have been verified to be the same ones sent and also test new or better on our tube tester.  Purchase refunds will be in the same form as purchase payments.

FEEDBACK POLICY: We want satisfied customers and try to give good feedback to all buyers who pay on time and who have given us positive feedback.  Our Feedback to you is usually provided when the transaction has been COMPLETED.
