Jacket says: condemned and shunned for black magic, rachel morgan has 3 days to get to the annual witches conference and clear her name or be trapped in the demonic ever after. there is more but you really don't need it. the airport was really annoying................. i hate it when in a book or even in a tv show...... that everyone in creation knows you should not do it and that it's not possible and the heroine insists..... (reminds me of lois in lois and clark who was determined to go after that ring.......) well anyway... the airport was really annoying..... and well anyway, can someone say road trip? and of course like any road trip movie/book, every time the characters stop, things go wrong.......... it just got old fast. i'm sorry i really like kim harrison's books, but i got lost so many times. felt bad for that were....who got killed i was sad and angry over the one touching moment between rachel and ivy. somehow felt cheated. i was sad because of the actual moment and angry that it didn't go further....... teased again. still trying to figure how what in the world is going on with trent? the book for me didn't move smoothly, i kept having to go back and re-read paragraphs, truthfull did trent double cross her? and if so why is she? or isn't she? and they come home and life just goes on? lots of loose ends, i guess for future books.............Read full review
This is one of the best books in the Hollows series by Kim Harrison. A better writter than any other and I have read the sookie stackhouse novels and Jim Butcher Dresden files. I only wish Kim 'from this series' and Harry 'from the dresdin files' could meet!! It would be awesome. This book make me cry, laugh, angry and was the most emotional of all the books. Life and Death are very serious in this series and there is a lot of it... Kistens killers comes to view, and Rachel is a target for the high and mighty holier than thou coven of witches for Ethical Rules or what ever they want to call themselves. I want to see Rachel or Pierce blast the all to hell or maybe burried alive like he was!! Al, Rachels main demon has really come to life in this book, I almost LOVE him!! The though of loosing Jenks in this book made me cry for hours. This book is a MAGICAL MASTERPIECE! Don't pass it up!!! New characters are Banshees, fairies 'acting for the witch coven' History on Pixie life is explored, A new character Ford with FIB who may really be a Inderlander, And a new character Pierce, wow I want to meet him, I might like a date. A witch put to death in the 1800's now back from the dead who is oh so powerful and in love with Rachel or is he???? DON'T MISS THIS SPECTACULAR BOOK, To Kim Harrison I hope you make a stronger bond between Al and Rachel it would be nice to see him trick her in to bed thinking she is with Pierce or Marshall!! hahahahah..... and then at the end pop back in to his self. What fun that would be.. A little demon baby born out of trickery...... and it would be cool if Newt was killed so maybe Al could take over as king.. Have fun readers Let your imagination take over cause this book will take you on a Magic carpet ride....Read full review
If you’ve been on the fence about the Hollows series, this book will bring you back to the series. I can’t say anything without spoiling the book for you, but rest assured- this book was awesome. This has to be one of the best books in the series so far. It doesn’t beat out the first book as my favorite Hollows read, but it’s up there. This book finds Rachel trying to find a way to the witch convention in San Francisco, but when no flight will carry her, she has to make her way West with the last person she thought she’d travel with: Trent Kalamack. He too has a reason for heading to the West Coast, but he’s not spilling the details. Since the only other option is to not travel & be put to death or go to the ever after with Al (which is almost as bad), Rachel’s left with no other options. Stuck on what has the potential to be the worst road trip ever, Rachel & crew (oh yes, Ivy & Jenks are there too) discover that anything that can go wrong, will. Especially when you have to deal with assassins, secrets, & a soul eating demon that can not only walk during the day, but also can come & go as he pleases. Where to begin? For starters, you’ll love that even though not everything is resolved in this book, Harrison does her best to address many of the concerns & questions that fans have been having over the series. I won’t state which ones get the most attention, but I opine (as Pierce would put it) that the many people will be satisfied in one way or another. Also wonderful is the maturing of Rachel. She’s still the type of person who is capable of insane feats of magic, but this Rachel is one who no longer sees things (as she puts it) in the “black and white” views as she did at the beginning of the series. This shows in many of her actions in this book & the decisions she makes during the course of her adventures in this book. This is an awesome book & one that anyone following along with the Hollows series NEEDS to read. Not breeze through in the store or library, but read. This was just sheer awesomeness & I really feel like I can’t say enough good things about it. I loved this book. (ARC provided by NetGalley)Read full review
