After almost 20 years waiting Pearl Jam has released their famous MTV Unplugged concert on DVD. The quality is great, and the concert is one of the best to be immortalized in digital format. The band shows how talented they are by performing their hits with accoustics and not missing a beat. Dave shows how good he was on the drums, and Eddie, well it was Eddie at his raging fineist with superior vocals to the studio release of TEN. The audio CD's were just a perk to this amazing DVD. Pearl Jam is easily the best band to come from the Seattle explosion, and they prove it here as well as they prove it to this day. Thank God for Pearl Jam.
This is one of the best records made in the last 20 years easily. Rock had gotten very watered down with the entire "hair metal band" thing that was very big and then Seattle just exploded with the grunge movement. The funny thing is Pearl Jam isn't grunge but they got lumped in with it. They are more just straight rock/blues. They are great at what they do. Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Sonic Youth and Pearl Jam were pretty much the biggest bands up there at the time. Pearl Jam is really the only band that lasted (sonic youth is good but.....they aren't PJ.) This album was a huge influence on me when I was in high school and I listen to it today but when I heard they re-mastered it and released the MTV Unplugged with it I had to get this album again. The original is unchanged and still as beautiful as ever as you can hear a lot of the imperfections of their playing as it was so raw back then. Now that they have been playing for so many years they have gotten their catalog of music down to a science which is good but mistakes in playing and playing through them are what makes bands great to me. The re-mastered version is slightly different in that a lot more of the instruments feel like they are up front more. You can still hear Eddie sing and he isn't drowned out by any means but I prefer the original. I understand that Brendan O'Brien didn't want to mess with this classic but the guys had a lot of faith in him to remix it differently. It isn't bad but I have always been the guy that says don't mess with perfection. If you like PJ you have to get this album, if you like music and don't own Ten you need to be slapped then you need to go buy this version as it has the both versions on it. Nuff said....... -finRead full review

Purchased for the Unplugged DVD because Dave Abbruzzesse played the drums... phenomenal performance.. that show changed my whole approach to drumming. Pleasantly surprised with the remixed cd's. Thank you to Pearl Jam for releasing! I know it must have taken a lot for them to put their tremendous egos aside for the fans.
I bought this cd collection as a suprise for my wife and I tell you what I wouldn't have imagined such a simple gift would give someone such enjoyment!! I find each of the cds in different players throughout the house and the dvd(that I think is awesome as well, I'm usually not a fan of live music, the band has to be pretty "sik" to pull it off!! Well Eddy and the Boyz' are "SIK" like a plague!!) These guys are here to stay like the STONES have been around for their followers! I know I gave this a five star rating but I definitely think it should get a "TEN"!! Don't hesitate hit the "Buy It Now"! If I knew then what I know now and had to buy it again, I'll pay double if I have to!
