Patton (1970) is a great film. I am not a fan of war movies, but I enjoyed this picture exceedingly. The story follows the career of General George S. Patton, a tank commander in WWII. Patton is a fascinating character, and the film explores all sides of his personality--good, bad, funny, reprehensible, bombastic, etc. What really makes the movie is the masterful performance delivered by George C. Scott as Patton. Scott is amazing, giving Patton his full due and presenting us with one of the most memorable characters in film history. The screenplay, direction, score, and cinematography are all excellent, as is the cast, which includes Karl Malden. Patton won the Academy Award for Best Picture, and Scott picked up the Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role, though he refused to accept the award. The film garnered seven Oscars out of ten nominations overall. The DVD comes with several documentary special features and commentary by Francis Ford Coppola, who wrote the script. Whether or not you like war movies, you'll enjoy Patton. It is an extraordinary film which I highly recommend.Read full review
Great movie that was historically accurate. Good price, good action sequences. Good value considering the movie won several Oscars
