Ornate Antique Stanley #43 Type 4 Millers Patent Adjusting Plow Plane 1876 Great

There can be no denying that the Victorian era produced a lot of things with beauty and flair but how many people know that it even affected the look of tools?  This is an ornate antique plane produced by Stanley.  According to the owner and the research we looked at, it is the Stanley #43, Type 4, Millers Adjustible Plow Plane. 

The plane is missing one fence screw, and you can see where a set of pliers were taken to the screws a few times.  When we researched the planes, we read that using pliers and the marks they left are very common on almost every old planes with brass screws.  Most of the japaning on the top is gone, but the side look great with most of it still in place.  The skate is marked, "Stanley Rule & Level Company".  The handle has knocks from use but is solid with no deep gouges, cracks or breaks.  It needs a good cleaning IMHO, but many of you collectors of high end tools know exactly how you like yours cleaned so we left it as is.  The guide slides easy from one end to the other.  Many that have had replacement parts do not slide well.  It has one blade inside. There is no sign of repairs, old or new.
