The slider cable is infused in 2 layers of rubber 2 different colors.  Fake ones are plastic and 1 layer.
Facing the 2 speakers face to face,  the force of the magnets push the speakers away from each other.

Apple produced this model earphone between the years of 2006-2008.  The plug on this earphone comes with a "RUBBER" outer jack, While the newer generation Apple earphones since early/mid 2009 come with a Longer "PLASTIC" jack.  The plastic jack earphone change took place in early 2009 with the introduction of the iPhone 3GS, and iPod Nano 5th Gens.    Below are some pictures of the 2 Generation iPod models and different style earphones offered with the retail box of the iPods.  These earphones being sold in this listing have the Rubber Jack! 

Note:- Apple Never sold the iPod earphones with the Plastic Jack in a retail box.  They were only bundled with iPods but never sold as an accessory.  Only iPhone 3GS earphone w/ Mic + Remote which have the plastic plug are sold in retail boxes as an accessory.  Anyone selling model MA662 earphones with a plastic plug in a box like above is selling a product Apple never produced for retail consumption!
