Previously unseen and very rare hand written manuscript account of a voyage of the Imperial Cruiser IWATE during WW1. Most of the account covers a voyage to Australia in 1915-16, but the Iwate was also sent to Tsingtao (China) and Taiwan. The Iwate was launched in 1900. It later became the flagship of the Second Battle Squadron, 2nd Fleet. The Iwate served in the Russo-Japanese War (1904-05), WW1, & WW2. On July 24, 1945 US warplanes dropped bombs on the Iwate causing it to sink bow first. A rare artifact of a sailor who served on this historic ship. Volume measures 6 1/4 X 9 1/2 inches and has 112 pages. Original covers, contents complete, fair shape for the age & GUARANTEED AUTHENTIC. NOTE: this volume was too large for my scanner. The pages are UNTRIMMED & have FULL MARGINS. Be sure to add me to your favorites list & check out my other auctions for more interesting things from Japan. Payment by PAYPAL. Buyer pays ACTUAL SHIPPING COSTS. If you buy more than one item I can combine shipping.
