Item specifics

Plant Category:

Catasetinae bulbs scraps and small bulbs

Plant Format:

Bare root divisions with new growth

Plant Name:

Orchids

If you have more time than money then this would be of interest!  Here is a collection of 8 different Catasetinae teeny scraps of back bulbs with new growth.  I had been growing these up each year to sell the next year but now i'm not so ambitious.  So you can get some great DNA cheap here!

Ctsm. Federico Diana (Ctsm. appendiculatum x Ctsm. denticulatum)

Ctsm pileatum 'Jamie's White Ghost'

2 of Ctsm Judy Wagner 'Jamie's Pomegranate Explosion'

Ctsm Kay Lowe x pileatum

Ctsm Frilly Doris x Ctsm pileatum 'Jamie's Big boy'

Ctsm pileatum var. imperiale 'Pierre Couret' AM/AOS

Clowesetum Raymond Lerner

This is the way to sell Catasetums. Bare root just after the new growth has started! This drastically lowers the shipping and packaging cost. Later in the summer, they get so big that it is a problem finding a box big enough without incurring the wrath of the postal measuring tape and the postage can go as high as $22 to far away places! The Catasetinae family is really cool. All in all I think they are the easiest of the unusual orchids. They are deciduous and thus even if the leaves get damaged - no worry - they fall off in the autumn anyway. Water, food, sun- most ctsm will take as much as you can give them in the growing season. Then, in the winter, I take them out of the pot, cut off any leaves that are left, cut off the roots and put them in the garage till spring. It doesn't freeze in my garage but it does get down to 33 here in Central Fl. Then when they send out their new growths in the spring, I pot them up again and put them in a shady spot for a couple of weeks as the new growths are white from being in the dark. I treat them like tulips sort of. The blooms are weird and beautiful, most are fragrant and the only bothersome insect is spider mite which I treat once a year with a miticide. And you can divide them down to one pseudobulb and they will produce blooms that season once they are mature.

Thanks a lot! jamie

Hi, I'm jamie lawson,  We have retired to a much smaller place on the Sebastian River in Central Florida. We have a flasking Lab there. There isn't really room for a greenhouse plus it has been hit by 4 hurricanes so far the past few years which makes me leery of a greenhouse. So I have to auction off a lot of my collection especially extra divisions. The flasks are starting to come to size.  Thanks a lot! jamie

Thanks a lot!
