WHAT DOES A HUMAN SOUL LOOK LIKE? HOW DO YOU CAPTURE ONE IN A BOTTLE?
Well... I don't know! No one has ever proved that such thing as a 'soul' does exist, after all. It's a matter of belief. Which means...EBAY SHOULDN'T REMOVE THIS LISTING just because they think the human soul doesn't exist!!! Can they - or anyone else - prove that there's NO such thing as soul? (for further clarification please read the notice at the end of this description)
Anyway - read on...
On a recent trip to Armenia, to visit spots related to the life of the great, late mystic Gurdjieff, I came upon an old gypsy woman who, I kid you not, looked just like some old Walt Disney witch! And, sure enough, that old woman claimed to be a witch, and wanted to sell me this old, ancient glass bottle with what looks like a dead leaf and some liquid inside, claiming it contained a human soul - the soul of a mischievous man, which the old witch managed to capture in the bottle.
According to what the old witch told me, a soul is simply the spiritual essence of a person. It's not a conscious thing, or a "ghost". There are many people out there who, according to this woman, have no soul. And, likewise, there are people who carry within themselves many souls. The human body, of flesh and blood and bones, and nothing but a vessel, that can be empty or full. And thus, it can also be emptied.
Gurdieff himself said we are born without souls and must work to forge our own.
The woman explained to me that the leaf is simply a symbol, used to retain the soul, in accordance to her magical ritual. Every magical ritual needs a strong, relevant symbol.
The leaf, like us humans, once belonged to a tree. It carries life, and once it's detached from the tree, it blows with the wind and eventually dies, just like us.
Therefore, the leaf, more than the bottle, is what is allegedly capturing this supposed soul. The bottle, then, is nothing but a protective shell, to keep the leaf protected from the elements and therefore still able to retain the soul.
The old woman told me, however, not to try to remove the leaf from the bottle, and not to ever break the bottle - such trauma might damage the delicate balance of her magical spell, releasing the soul. And who knows what would happen then?
By the way - the 'mischievous' man, whose soul is contained in this bottle, is still alive and well, according to the woman. And, apparently, very happy! Because he had sold his soul to the devil, who'd reclaim it once he died. But since his soul is not contained in his body anymore... the devil has no way to obtain it! One can hope, anyway!
I'm not a strong believer in these things, but it was an interesting story, so I bought this bottle, to get that horrible old woman out of my sight! However... I'm just a little bit superstitious, so I decided I don't feel very comfortable in the vicinity of such a weird, esoteric item, hence putting it up for sale on eBay, where I hope it'll find a suitable new owner.
I'm starting the auction at £100. It'd be terrible to think one man's soul is worth less than that!
THIS is a beautiful, rare antique bottle (perhaps 19th century or early 20th) that's perfect for the collection of anyone with an interest in the occult and esoteric... or simply lovers of fine old bottles!
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Everything I say here IS true, but all I can claim, since there's no way to prove it, or to prove that the human soul does exist, is that everything I said here is NOT true, just a story to sell you an old, rare antique bottle. Believe in whatever you will! So just for the record - this is just an old bottle, with no mystical properties AT ALL! YOU ARE BIDDING ON A PLAIN OLD - AND RARE - ANTIQUE BOTTLE ONLY!
